Robert Englund on how he was influenced by the performances of Klaus Kinski & James Cagney for his role as Freddy Kruger in "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984): "I saw the Klaus Kinski version of "Nosferatu the Vampyre" (1979, Herzog) with Isabelle Adjani, and I was so blown away by his work and I'm a big fan of Klaus Kinski's and so his freedom, his physical freedom in that film also influenced me to be freer and not be afraid to dance a little bit; to dance to Freddy a little bit or, as we say in the theatre, to wear the scenery a little bit. And sort of find my composition because so much of the scenery that Freddy is involved with is larger than life, it's surreal, it's the boiler-room, it's exaggerated, the set is mutating for whatever reasons and so Freddy, to kind of fill that frame, that rectangle, that picture frame, I wanted Freddy to be able to do that and kind of wear that scenery as if he was almost manifesting it himself in the imagination of whichever victim was hallucinating or dreaming it or having a nightmare in that landscape, so to speak. Yeah and that influenced me a lot and I would also use the hat a lot. I liked to use the hat to reveal the bald head - I liked to use the hat as silhouette and shadow and I liked to use the hat to hide behind. I could like literally hide my eyes from the light under the brim, and then at other times I could just barely lift my head and let the light in under the brim to catch my own eyes. So that was really informed part of Freddy, and then I think there was a little bit of Jimmy Cagney in there. There was a kind of a plant your legs wide, almost a little bit of Jimmy Cagney gangster thing. These are all like images that actors used, almost like having a bulletin board with scraps on them and they kind of inform you in your imagination and then they kind of manifest. I don't think anybody watching me would say Klaus Kinski or say Jimmy Cagney or say Bob Fosse or any of those things. But they did inform me a little bit. Because Freddy knows you're dreaming him, so it's almost like he's on stage. Freddy knows you're dreaming him and you're experiencing him as a spectre so I thought he would exploit that a little bit and milk it a little bit, you know." (Robert Englund's interview with Kwenton Bellette, Screenanarchy, 2012) P.S: Happy 79th birthday, Robert Englund!

NEW: Barron Trump is being credited with saving a woman's life after she was being attacked by her ex-boyfriend in the UK, according to Metro. The revelation came from the woman, who told a London court that Barron Trump's quick thinking saved her life. According to the report, 22-year-old Matvei Rumianstev became jealous of his girlfriend's friendship with Barron and started assaulting her. Barron reportedly picked up a FaceTime call to see Rumianstev allegedly beating his friend. Barron then jumped into action and called UK police at '999' to tell operators that his friend was being assaulted. Snaresbrook Crown Court played the audio in court where Trump's youngest child was reportedly heard saying: "I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up." Barron gave the police the woman's address before saying, "It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up." "She called me. I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something," Barron reportedly told police. "I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming. I could see a guy’s head on the phone, and then the camera turns to her crying and getting hit." "I called you guys; that was the best thing I could do. I wasn’t going to call back and threaten things to him because that would just make the situation worse." The woman said the call to Barron Trump was "a sign from God" as she explained to jurors how Barron would call her. "She told jurors ‘he would call me’ and that she missed ‘a few’ from him before the call, which eventually connected and led to him calling the police," Metro reported. "He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment," she said.

We Have the Politicians and Criminals Running Scared A Nessel case, a Benson audit, and a Land Bank embarrassment are just some of the fruits of our labors By Charlie LeDuff (Charlie LeDuff) We are at the halfway point of the year. As a matter of housekeeping, dear reader, here are updates on some exclusive stories that have appeared in this space in 2025. Grandma Killer Demands Dollars While former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo finds himself in the crosshairs of a criminal investigation for lying to Congress over his nursing home response, Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan’s dingbat-in-chief, who copied Cuomo’s nursing home co-mingling of the healthy and infected, appears to be skating off scot-free. But not so fast. What did Whitmer tell the DOJ back in 2020 when federal investigators demanded Michigan’s nursing home data? No one seems to know. Under Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act, we asked for that material as well as all conversations between her office and that of Attorney General Dana Nessel. The response? It will cost $3,147.80 to process. I say we call their bluff and start a GoFundMe page (coming soon). Dum Dum Dana’s Caught a Case The trial of One Finger Freddy, the serial signature forger whose sloppy work in 2022 took out five Republican gubernatorial candidates, has been dragging on for years. One wonders if this is just another case of Dana Nessel’s serial incompetence or something more nefarious? Turns out One Finger Freddy’s political dirty deeds trace back to Nessel’s wife, Alanna Maguire. Maguire was the co-chairperson of a gay rights ballot initiative in 2020 that hired Freddy to gather signatures. Like the Republican candidates, the ballot initiative went down in flames after he delivered nearly 200,000 bogus signatures. The way Maguire’s campaign paid Freddy way so audacious that a criminal complaint was sent to… Dana Nessel! Even though Nessel has brought criminal charges against her political enemies for the very same charges, the criminal referral against her wife seems to have had died in the darkness. Until our report, that is. Now, the Michigan House Oversight Committee has exhumed the case. SOS! Save Our State Jocelyn Benson thumbed her nose at federal law when she issued Real IDs. On many occasions, her office never checked or never recorded official documents confirming a person’s residency, social security number, or citizenship as required by law. We have confirmed that the Transportation Security Administration has indeed opened an investigation. Shri Shoots a Grosse Pointe Blank Poor Shri Thanedar. Not only does the diminutive Detroit Democrat not know which communities he represents, his Democratic colleagues in Congress recently told Axios that his impeachment attempt of Donald J. Trump “is the dumbest f—ing thing” and “a waste of f—king time.” Like his lab-test beagles, Thanedar’s impeachment stunt has been stuffed in a cage to die. Samson Defeats Goliath Armed with the sling of social media (and a stone provided by Michigan Enjoyer) Charles E. Brooks Jr., the unofficial Mayor of Detroit’s East Side, has delivered a political knockout to the mayor of Detroit’s downtown, Mike Duggan. Bombarded by public outrage, Duggan and his bureaucracy were forced to return the title to Brooks’ property, know as “The Castle,” which it had confiscated on the grounds of blight. Unsatisfied, Brooks called for a criminal investigation into the “devilish” Detroit Land Bank Authority on financial and environmental grounds. Every candidate at the Detroit Mayor’s debate last week promised to do so. Not one to be caught flatfooted, Duggan is trying to beat it out of town before the city goes broke and is making an independent run for the governor of Michigan. No More Alleged Terrorists Next Door? Issam Bazzi was given parole into the U.S. after wading across the Rio Grande in 2021 with his wife and daughter. He was even provided transportation to Dearborn, paid for by American taxpayers. Problem is, Bazzi came up as a “Category 5” hit on the Terror Watch List, making the Venezuelan the first known suspected terrorist to be wittingly allowed into the country. Sources say Bazzi has been ordered deported following an Enjoyer investigation. So why is he still here? Because Bazzi—with suspected ties to Hezbollah and Venezuela’s Maduro regime—has filed an appeal based on “humanitarian grounds.” Think of it: Due process. Humanitarian considerations. Right to parole. Ain’t America grand?
