Thunberg described the conditions as “cruel and degrading,” stating that dozens of activists were crammed into “tiny cages” and denied essential medicine. However, she stressed that her experience should not be the focus of media coverage. “I do not want there to be headlines about Greta being tortured. Because that is not the story here,” she said.
