Grow Potatoes Vertically in Crates – Step-by-Step Guide for Bigger Harvests.

I have done this. It works well, i only stacked 2 high and like 3 wide and built a dirt mountain over top of them. To harvest, i just picked up a milk crate and shook it until all the dirt fell out the sides. Absolutely great method

Looks like a fake video from AI. Standing towers dry out much faster. If you try it be prepared to water every day over the whole course of growth to get anything from your plastic+potato crop. 🤢🫣😬

This shit has to be ai. Normally a sped up video of a plant growing the leaves would move to follow the light source and also that the light stays the same through out the "plants growth" in this video. Not saying this method cannot work but it's annoying that-

The potatoes are "ready" when they have finished flowering and the green tops have dried out, or after 100 days in the ground.

I had a boss once who told me using a 55gal trash can and as it grows add more and more dirt until it is full and BAM! So many potatoes...

When it rains won’t the dirt seep out of the holes?

The growbag experiment was a failure. Now tempted to try this.

Can you do other root veg this way or onions?

all of my milk crates have "stuff" in them . Guess I better move the stuff into tubs to free up the crates . They're not as easy to come by like they used to be , the free ones anyway .

I’m doing it !!!! ASAP 🙌🏼

This will not work well. It'll get dry too fast. Just layer your soil and straw. After it grows some bury the plants in the straw soil mix and leave the crowns exposed.

Laundry baskets lined with newspaper

20lb bags of potatoes are $5 in grocery store.

@grok Easy one for you today. Not asking for your opinion. Is this a one potato, two potato theme, how many potatoes does 4 potatoes yield?

Bet this would be great for garlic!!!! Large harvest in small space.

I have a few of these milk crates! Might just do a garlic tower. 😇

Great idea! It looks so much easier to maintain. I will definitely try this instead of planting directly in the soil. It will eliminate having to constantly shovel soil to mound the potatoes as they grow. Also it will save space in my garden for other plants. ❤️

And weeding not required.👍

@kkrause99 Must be rich. I have to use tires.

Will sweet potatoes grow like this too?!

Nah, no plastic. A lot of people buy weed barrier that is woven plastic. Really cool idea though.

Potatoes Grow in the dirt? Who Knew?

I will try that this year!

Awesome, I grow potatoes every year and they take up a lot of room. This is a great idea, but not sure how you keep it all watered.

Literally AI lol

@sugurray4UGA, maybe this will work for your tomatoes.

@SirenPatriot Potato towers are a great space saving method and work well but I personally wouldn't use plastic as convenient as it is, I simply built one using wire mesh and stakes, there are plenty of plans for different diy styles online.

How long does it take to grow?

Stackable crate

@KiwiEV Should all EV's be equipped with these crates for OBTP (on board tuber production)?
