welp at least lincox lets ye troubleshoot without logging in, even though you'd expect that 30 years of development would have figured out basic things such as bluetooth and sound playback...but what do I know.

Really the blame is on Linux, but it isn't because of their software teams, it's because they misunderstand power structures, and why Windows has worked for decades, and why they have been playing catchup

My laptop has now "upgraded" itself to windows 11 a whopping 14 TIMES! Every single time I downgrade back down and refuse the upgrade and include the obligatory "fuck yourselves" message to microsoft. I have literally tried everything, from new system to tools to disable updates. I stand by the sentiment that if microsoft has layoffs its 99% deserved

Yeah Windows also went downhill fast when they made all help information online-only. I remember having a serious network problem a few years ago and I couldn't access any relevant information because the Networking help file was ONLINE ONLY. That was a *terrible* decisions that really hurt Windows users who needed an offline help file. You shouldn't need to connect to a network to access instant help. It should just be there.

my most favourite/not favourite windows 'thing' is its insistence that I "contact my system administrator" for support on a home machine of which I am the only user

It was the best of several awful choices for many years. I think it's getting close to not being the top choice. But that's not because the other choices got better, because they largely haven't, it's because Windows has degraded so dramatically.
