The military in any zombie media is written to be as incompetent and corrupt as possible because realistically speaking the situation will be under control within a week or less.

Not very helpful when 60-70% of your troops are infected and dying from the infection that made the zombies in the first place The military failed cuz they had so little morale, manpower, resources and had a command structure that crumbled, they simply stopped being effective

i mean your right but it doesnt mean the entire military will collapse immediately it could have a multiple military factions if walking dead was realistic in terms military stuff then rick is gonna deal with multiple rogue military elements after monumental day

The military failed in TWD because the virus was airborne and global, not just because they didn't know what to do.

The military in the Walking Dead acted like they all were going through the first 1-2 years in their 6 year military contracts Pull a TFU Stormtrooper, walk up towards the adversary and shoot. Never shove or kick, without your gun you are useless ahh logic

This heavily relies on the assumption that your military still has functionning supply and logistics chains (i.e. an intact civilian sector with factories still producing ammunition, fuel and spare parts).

In war a huge % of ammunition is spent on suspected targets and suppression. Against zombie horde it could be far far more effective. Any canon or even a .50 cal would decimate dozens of them in seconds.

The infantry should be fighting from trucks not on foot and the armored vehicles should be leading the column and driving over the zombies.

A real zomby event would more look like world war Z, the book, with the infection more or less slowly grinding the survivor, with the z geting more and more wille we get less and less
