not an idolfag or a Slice-of-Life fan but I've been watching anime long enough to know what the average idol concert sequence looks like and I knew right away that the animation team for this shitpost anime went above and beyond

100 Girlfriends animation has always gone so insanely hard for literally no reason. You can tell the creators love their job lol

Most of idol animes dance sequences, are made for couple of years in fully 3D (which i dont mind) and this one just, no we can make it by hand, its just 12 girls, each one with completely different clothes and stature, no problem at all.

Nano's fit makes her look like Houshou Marine.

Animated by Masayuki Nonoka. These dances were definitely mocapped/rotoscoped but mixed well with 2d/3d motions. It isn't too surprising how good this looks considering you have a talented animator that is able to do this without any melt or inconsistency. ( Also high frame animation doesn't exist lmao it only goes up to 24fps and thats it. )

Yeah they sync but you can still see their movement a bit different. It show that this isnt blatant copy paste. And the song have this old jp idol anime song vibes on the golden era which what i used to really love.

Mostly what I notice is they don't suddenly switch to smoothmotion CGI once the dancing starts. That's always a good way to throw me out of immersion when watching a show.

I feel like the shortcut here ( if they did 3d tracking ) was to have similarly sized girls do the dance, and then alter the 3d tracking slightly to create slightly different dances I wouldn't even be mad at that, having 12 different actors sounds crazy expensive.
