Before we had the dollar as the reserve, everybody, including the United States, held gold. I don't think anybody controls gold. Where you have control is over fiat currencies. The Iranians just had a flat fee, 1 million, $2 million, less than a percentage point. That's much cheaper than what Trump wanted to charge them.
