The actual framing we do is a lot better, but the wood quality is way worse because it’s not old growth lumber. Without proper moisture protection, it rots way faster. And given that there’s a lot of shit installers out there, that creates tons of issues down the road.

And the balloon frame was why the US used to lose cities to fires. As soon as the flames take hold, the system becomes dozens of chimneys helping the fire spread.
