I don't want anyone watching this and thinking this is always the case. It's not. Yes there many dynamics in recruitment. Just put your best foot forward. At all times guys.

I remember I applied for a job when it was already closed. But they took me in.

I don't believe her. I have worked for companies where there were candidates with strong CV's than me and with more years of experience, but I came very prepared for interviews and passed. Ensure your CV is ATS compliant and it gets you one foot into the door and prepare for the interview. Nothing is guaranteed.

😂Funny part on my side. . I never received feedback from a certain company and later they advertised the same post while am waiting for feedback. Thank God I got a Job at a much better place.

Anyone with that video by Nota were he said "people give you money because they likes you not because you deserve it, and went as far as saying you get opportunities because they likes you not because you are good at what you do".... my goat never misses🤞

This is true to a certain extent, more especially when the company hires internally.

Hence I went for self employment route, this thing of job applications and interviews is shit, I couldn't stand it, worst part they will make you do all of these assignments which will take up most of your time only to reject you later

I do not agree with her - she’s speaking of her own personal experience in hr department/s of companies that worked a certain way I’ve worked in recruitment and HR departments where filters were put on ads (ATS) to ensure the best candidates came through. You can’t get an interview unless they see your cv (if the process is fair and not rigged to start) So a good cv is vital - I do this work on a daily basis

She's lying, it's not applicable everywhere. I was a hiring manager, I hired lots of engineers, I hired based on a set criteria

The point of making your CV ATS friendly is to match your CV with the job description. Depends on the company hiring. Small companies don’t have those systems hence they rely on physical selection. Larger Companies can afford systems that helps them scan CVs.

This is true...when i was a manager at brandhouse, we'd pick two people and just interview the rest as a formality

Yebo, truth! Many interviews are just checking boxes. The real test is whether you fit their vibe. Don't stress.

This is still a bad advice. Do your CV perfectly so you stand a chance to be interviewed. They may hire whoever they wanted at that time, but you will resonate with them in future positions. I'm talking from experience also.

No two situations are the same. You are speaking from a position of privilege. How do you advise people not to do their best? That's entitlement mentality. Always put your best foot forward. That's the problem with X. Even company messengers want to advise professionals. 2K? 🥹

Haibo!😅 Where she worked? That’s not everywhere. Some companies have structures, I’ve been in HR leadership in global organisations; one time this white man wanted to influence the hiring of his cousin’s son & I squashed that, his interview didn’t even happen🤷🏾‍♂️ I lead ethically!

Sho, but what if the formality is just a front? Some interviewers take it seriously. How do you tell the difference?

It happens for some companies and others that are built for innovation will definitely have a different criteria and ask applicants to do their due diligence... Here is the problems, you don't know which one is which... Some are dead obvious, small businesses etc

She's right, I recently interviewed at a mining company, and one of the questions was clearly meant for an internal candidate. They couldn't even explain the question to me. I knew right then that it was just a paper exercise and they called me at short notice, 3 days before.

Same thing is applied in procurement departments that appoint construction contractors of any contractor its very sad. For most of these employees its just a push paper exercise

I completely disagree. I have been a hiring manager for more than 30 new hires in my career. Not once did I have a predetermined hire. Everyone I have hired has been on merit. This does not mean colleagues have not brought their ‘friends’ nephew’s CVs. They had.

She is talking about nepotism, this is a diseases that affect politicians more especially ANC @MYANC. Municipalities and other government departments use this strategy to isolate people who aren't politically connected
