Few American politicians have come as far as fast as Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani began 2025 as a little-known state legislator, and in the first minutes of 2026 he’ll be sworn in as mayor of New York, often called the second-toughest job in America. Campaign photographer Kara McCurdy (Kara McCurdy) documented his remarkable rise, capturing images of Mamdani since before his first race for New York State Assembly in 2020. Ali Rogin spoke with McCurdy about her experience watching history unfold through her camera lens. "Every single photo that we take and every opportunity that we have to start a new shoot is an opportunity to tell a story, whether those are stories of working New Yorkers or the story of somebody running for state assembly," McCurdy told Rogin. "When I'm photographing Zohran Mamdani, I'm telling the full story, not just of him, but also of his policies and what that means for New Yorkers."

This time his sons Justin & Christian Combs are breaking their silence about their father's arrest in a new docuseries on Zeus Zeus CEO Lemuel Plummer responded to backlash after dropping the 2026 trailer "To be clear, this documentary series is centered on providing Justin and Christian the opportunity to share their personal story and lived experiences, particularly as their lives have also been directly impacted. She is entitled to express her opinion. However, the same Jaya Bachchan who criticizes the paparazzi for making inappropriate comments ends up doing exactly the same by body-shaming them and mocking their modest clothing and status along with their inability to afford expensive cameras worthy of Queen Jaya. On top of that, she makes sneering remarks about the younger generation of actors, effectively ensuring her grandson becomes widely unpopular among his peers. She also refers to her grandson as an actor, as far as I recall, he has appeared in only one film so far, "The Archies" which was a complete flop !! Jaya Bachchan serves as a prime example of how to ruin your grandson’s career before it even begins. When diplomacy and tactfulness were being distributed by the Almighty, Queen Jaya was trying to prove that even Abhishek Bachchan is an actor !!

After the release of "Support Your Local Sheriff!" (1969), James Garner told an interviewer that Walter Brennan was “the consummate professional who respects everyone in the production. He does his thing, and you know what to expect. You don’t have to worry about him doing things behind your back.” When Garner was asked again for a comment on Walter Brennan, he replied, “He was old before he actually was & he was an unbelievably talented actor. He was a very nice guy.” Brennan’s memories of the picture were pleasant. He enjoyed working with director Burt Kennedy, also “a nice guy,” and seemed pleased to be playing a “dirty old man.” Garner remembered that Brennan was the first actor he had ever seen use cards: “He knew the dialogue and never flubbed a line, but I guess he just needed to know that his words were there as backup. He put a card up here and another down there and just kind of glanced at them to make sure. You couldn’t tell, though.” Brennan also had a great deal of respect for the lines as written. Even in old age, he refrained from indulging an actorly desire to “improve a script.” The major exception, of course, had been his work with Howard Hawks, who treated screenplays as a template designed to be modified. 📍 Alert, long post : I'm not a hardcore fan of any actor. Beyond cinema... i develop true respect only for people who use their influence as human beings to bring meaningful change & help society In that sense... i have an indescribable respect for mr.suriya. That respect was not something artificially created by watching insta reels... in my personal life i have had conversations with more than 10 students who directly benefited from the educational opportunities provided through the agaram foundation... i have personally witnessed how their lives changed because of the education they received through the foundation. A few years ago... a charitable trust in salem decided to make a documentary film about people whose spinal cords were severely damaged in accidents leaving them completely immobilized & struggling through life. They gave me the opportunity to write & direct that documentary. For the project,we traveled across many parts of salem to interview more than 15 affected persons... During that journey i came across families where fathers had lost their ability to work due to life altering accidents & i was deeply moved to learn that the education of their daughters was being supported by the agaram foundation. My cousin once worked as a manager & production incharge in suriya's uncle's garments company.. where t shirts for suriya fan clubs in tiruppur were manufactured... The very first time i ever wore an actor's t shirt & went to watch a film it was for a suriya movie. A person's true worth should never be measured by films, success, failure, or box office collections. It should be measured by the contribution they make to society. Tomorrow... I'm going to watch karuppu not as a fan of suriya the actor... but as an admirer of suriya the kind hearted human being. Wishing the film a massive success sir. Suriya Sivakumar ❤

Hungary's FM Szijjártó also had a great answer when asked about his country's relation with China, calling China "a huge chance and a huge opportunity" and revealing (which I didn't know) that actually the key reason why the Chinese invest in Hungary is "because of the Germans", i.e. to supply German companies that also have production facilities in Hungary. This was also brilliant: "Here again rationality is needed. We look at China, the cooperation with China as a chance, as an opportunity, as something that helps Hungary economy grow, as something that helps Hungarian economy to move to the next dimension, to be upgraded technologically speaking And when I listen to those who say China is a threat, then I raise my question: don't those countries have secret services or something? Because we have our secret services, we have our national security structure and if this structure signals any threat or danger to us regarding some action, then we don't do that. So what happens between us and China is absolutely, absolutely advantageous from the perspective of our national interest and national economy. What would not be in our national interest because of security reasons for example, then we would not do it. So I mean this is so simple from our perspective." I really wish this type of rationality was more generalized in Europe instead of the mind-numbing "good vs evil" ideology that's so pervasive at the moment...

I just watched the Netflix manosphere doc. If you focus only on its themes and subjects, it's pretty boring overall, but if you look at its format, it becomes quite interesting. It might be the most unintentional work of art ever made (and I don't mean it as a compliment toward the producers). This scene alone is one of the most surreal I've ever seen (so much to unpack that it would take me years). For context: the scene takes place towards the end, when the host returns to Marbella for one last follow-up interview with one of the influencers. At this point, the influencer has received plenty of negative feedback from his own followers about the host, having live-streamed the making of the doc several times, so he's well-aware of his and his producers' intentions (i.e., to essentially do a hit piece), so he tries to set them up by asking his own "cameraman" to live-stream the whole encounter. This time, however, not just for the sake of live-streaming, but to expose them as biased, corrupt, etc. IOW, to engineer a "hit piece" on them (whether his attempt backfires is irrelevant). On top of that, by the time the encounter takes place, the host has been live-streamed multiple times by almost all the subjects he had been profiling (over the course of weeks or months, not sure), which in turn has generated not only lots of discussion on socials (I've never heard of any of the influencers before this so I missed it), but also news articles about the making of the doc, the subjects profiled, the host, their views, and so forth, not to mention content about the news articles and the streams by other influencers... *before the doc has even wrapped up filming*. So it's already kind of unique. Now, though, that the documentary has come out, here are some Qs: Who's producing it? The host or the influencers? Their followers? The media? The other influencers? A combination of all of these? Who is the subject? Is the host making a documentary about himself by making a documentary about the influencers, or one about the influencers by making one about himself? Both? The whole thing is like a production within a series of streams within multiple reality shows within news stories within a debate within multiple platforms within (more layers I'm probably not even thinking of), which can also work in reverse, depending on how you look at it and/or how you've come across it. It's an unintentional work of art insofar as it perfectly captures the absurdity of today's "cultural" production—the way we consume it, contribute to it, engineer it, let it affect us (or the other way around). It also reveals in part why many of us online are prone to describe culture as "stuck". I think the reason we can't seem to ever get to the bottom of why is that we are not really describing "culture" when we say that. We are describing ourselves. Those comments that appear in the chat within the stream within the documentary? That's "us".

The cat seen in Caught Stealing (2025) is actually Tonic, a Siberian Forest Cat, his owner and lead trainer, Melissa Millett, found him as a stray kitten wandering the streets of Toronto about 8 years ago. Tonic was known for his extreme focus, once staying on his "mark" for an hour and a half. However, if he didn't feel like doing a take after 10 or 12 rounds, he would simply refuse to get back on his mark, signaling he was "done" for the day To prepare for the film's intense scenes, Millett practiced "fake killing" her assistant in front of Tonic so he would stay calm during the movie's bone-crunching violence. Before this film, Tonic already had a "horror icon" resume. He played the pre-death version of Church in the 2019 Pet Sematary remake and also appeared as Dewey in the 2023 slasher Thanksgiving. Director Darren Aronofsky admitted he is a dedicated "dog person" and generally "hated cats" before production. After working with Tonic, he was so impressed that he said he’d "work with Tonic in a second again over many human actors".

I appreciate the shout out by Ian Carroll on Tucker Carlson 🙏🏻 What I appreciate even more....is that the Las Vegas shooting is being pushed back into the spotlight, after years of being covered up by the mainstream media. I have a few things to add that I learned about after my documentary was already released. I just haven't been able to get on a big enough platform to get it out, so I made a short video I hope gets out there instead.... Probably, the biggest reveal I learned about through multiple first responders personally confiding in me....was that some of the bodies were already dead. They attempted aid within minutes after the shooting....only to discover that some of the bodies were already in rigor mortis and had gunshot wounds without blood coming out of them. Some, not all.....as I have previously reported, there were also around a dozen perfectly level head shots carried out by snipers near the stage area. Also, while many know that the incident commander for the shooting was sent to Maui to cover up for the fires there....few realize that the same corrupt Sheriff that helped the FBI cover it up, was installed as Governor here in Nevada in a primary race where over 40,000 people couldn't vote due to a "DMV glitch." There is a staggering amount of proof the government was behind it....and it's all painstakingly broken down in my full length documentary that I'll include a link of below. The government will continue doing his to us...until we finally call them out for it en masse.

This is Janet and me back in the day 📸 As a young actor, I had the opportunity to work with Janet a few times on Diff'rent Strokes, and our paths crossed many times throughout the years. One interesting connection is that my dad actually worked for Joe Jackson in the Motown building. One of my favorite memories from the Diff'rent Strokes set was when Janet had me pass a little note to Todd Bridges 😄 I think they may have been going steady at the time. I still laugh when I think about that. I also remember seeing Janet and Paula Abdul practicing dance steps during downtime and rehearsal days when we weren't shooting. Those are some really good memories that have stayed with me through the years.
