🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Hakeem Jeffries has just offered an amendment to the House shutdown bill that would extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits for 3 years. “We have an affordability crisis - and Republicans are burying their heads in the sand.” Jeffries then slammed Republicans for rising costs: “This country is too expensive. Costs aren’t going down under Republican control - they’re going up. Housing costs up. Grocery costs up. Electricity bills through the roof.” He warned that because Republicans refuse to act, “tens of millions of Americans are about to experience dramatically increased premiums, co-pays, and deductibles… some by $1,000 or $2,000 per month.” This must pass.

BREAKING: Democrat House Leader Hakeem Jeffries just eviscerated Trump and Republicans for trying to take people off of the Affordable Care Act, and leave millions of Americans with no health insurance. "Our position is a permanent extension of the Affordable Care Act Extension tax credits. Enough of the games that republicans have been playing connected to the healthcare of the American people. No one can trust their word on healthcare. Are you kidding me? These people have been trying to repeal and displace people off the Affordable Care Act since 2010. That’s 15 years."

When we passed the Affordable Care Act, we made historic progress in making health care attainable for working people. After years of Republicans trying to take that health care away, we cannot give up our fight now, as millions are at risk of losing their premium tax credits and their coverage.

Jeffries: The Trump tariffs have increased costs on everyday Americans by thousands of dollars per year. Republicans have refused to extend the affordable care act tax credits.. That's policy violence that Republicans are inflicting on the American people. Republicans have launched a reckless war of choice in the Middle East, dropping bombs, spending billions of dollars. But you can't find a dime to make life more affordable for the American people

The Affordable Care Act didn’t fix every issue in our health care system. But working families are facing a cliff right now if we don't extend these tax credits. If they don't act, Republicans will force millions of people to lose their coverage.

Jeffries: This is only going to end in one of two ways. Either Republicans are going to agree to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits before December 31st of this year, or the American people are going to throw Republicans out of office because of their failure to make life better. We’re continuing to press our case with a three-year extension connected to a discharge petition, and we already have over 200 signatures. At the end of the day, when we return to Washington next week, we only need a handful of House Republicans to join us, and we’ll be able to successfully force an up-or-down vote on extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits.
