I watched hamnet again, and i desperately want a woman to win best director. if it were up to me, chloé zhao would take it, becoming the first woman to win twice. hamnet is a film of rare, haunting beauty, and the ending alone deserves it

Killers of the Flower Moon is better than all four of these films. This movie deserved to win the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing & Best Supporting Actor. Instead, Scorsese’s latest won zero. Zip. Nada. One Battle After Another is second then Oppenheimer.

The Godfather: Part II won the Academy Award for Best Picture just two years after the first film won Best Picture. Francis Ford Coppola didn’t win Best Director for the first film but won it for the second. I think Christopher Nolan could do what Coppola couldn’t do with the first two Godfathers- win Best Picture and Best Director twice in a row. That’s the level of history we’re dealing with here.

“Battle After Battle” wins Best Picture. Who else took home an Oscar? The 98th Academy Awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles. The top prize — Best Picture — went to “Battle After Battle.” Its director Paul Thomas Anderson also won Best Director. 🎭 Best Actor — Michael B. Jordan (“Sinners”) 🎭 Best Actress — Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet: The Story That Inspired Hamlet”) 🎭 Best Supporting Actor — Sean Penn (“Battle After Battle”) 🎭 Best Supporting Actress — Amy Madigan (“Weapons”) 🎬 Best Original Screenplay — “Sinners” 🎬 Best Adapted Screenplay — “Battle After Battle” 🌍 Best International Feature Film — “Sentimental Value” (Norway) 🎞 Best Documentary Feature — “Mr. Nobody Against Putin” 🎭 Best Costume, Makeup and Production Design — “Frankenstein” The biggest winner of the night was “Battle After Battle,” taking home six Oscars. Interestingly, one of the favorites in the acting categories this year was Timothée Chalamet (“Marty the Magnificent”), but the award ultimately went to Michael B. Jordan for “Sinners.” Just days before the ceremony, Chalamet found himself at the center of controversy over remarks about opera and ballet that may have cost him the Academy’s vote. “I don’t want to work in ballet, or opera, or any other industry that has to be artificially kept alive even if no one cares about it,” the actor said. Sean Penn, who won Best Supporting Actor for “Battle After Battle,” did not attend the ceremony. According to The New York Times, he traveled to Europe to visit Ukraine. It is Penn’s third Oscar, making him one of the most decorated actors.

Tonight belonged to Paul Thomas Anderson. One Battle After Another won six #Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director & Sean Penn’s historic 3rd Academy Award. This film carved itself in the history cinema. I think all of these wins tonight will age incredibly well.

One Battle After Another is one year old. Unquestionably one of the best films I’ve ever seen in a theater, I’m so grateful this film exists & I’m so happy this movie won the Oscar for Best Picture. When a film clicks like this, it’s a feeling you want to hold onto forever. Hence why I always say Cinema is forever. One Battle After Another is truly forever.
