India’s handloom heritage is stepping into a new era of innovation. Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Handloom Technology (CoE-HT) at IIT Delhi, in the august presence of Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Smt. Amrit Raj, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) along with senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles and IIT Delhi. The Centre will serve as a national hub for research, innovation and digital technologies to strengthen India’s handloom sector. The event also witnessed the launch of five key initiatives — Handloom 4.0, Handloom e-Vidya, HandloomX, Kalagriha Handloom Studio, and Threads of Valour — aimed at enhancing productivity, sustainability, entrepreneurship and global growth.
