Hands up๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Who thinks the solution to this is... A) make 51 rule changes that top referees say can't be policed, that threaten to create a new sport and transfer this problem to the other half of the field? B) Just ban the back-pass? #saveourgame

Ban any backwards pass anywhere on the field? Or ban passing it back to the keeper?

You're mad if you think they'll ever opt for a simple solution

Ban the back-pass seems like the logical solution. Itโ€™s going to be extremely difficult to measure the success of each rule with so many knock on effects.

Ban passing to the keeper inside their own 21/D I would say. If teams want to risk having the keeper out of the box to use as cover, I think let them, but make them do it further up the pitch

@PerformTraynor Banning the backpass transformed soccer. Simple change and easy to referee

@PerformTraynor Simple solution which would encourage teams to press and force turnovers high up the field. Would have the potential to transform the game to man on man 14 v 14, do away with blanket defence, and put an end to long periods of lateral possession!

no mad rule changes needed. Change formations/ tactics to have numerical advantages and force keepers to play longer? Risk if they play out and lose it but reward if they can beat the high line press,

Just by way of clarification on your idea to ban the back pass- do you mean back pass to the keeper only or any back pass.

Sorry Eanna. Yes. The backpass to the keeper

Very disingenuous comment re 51 changes. We wouldn't need these if coaches didn't run the game with over analysing games and introducing mind numbingly boring tactics . You had an opportunity to provide feedback to the FRC, Did you take that opportunity ?

Good man. It's called economics. The biggest or baddest or smartest or strongest will always create ways to get edges over the others and the world evolves around this. It's a fantasy that nobody out there will do the same. And yes, I've made my points to the FRC
