Nihang Sikhs, who had come to support the CJP protest, are now also saying that there are goons among the protesters who are vandalizing police vehicles and attacking police personnel. The Nihangs have said that the protest should remain peaceful and that such violence has no place in it. They may withdraw their support for the CJP protest, as they have repeatedly said that some people at the protest are consuming drugs, something they say they cannot support.

He was screamed at, had his protective vest stolen by an unhinged radical, and walked through the streets bloodied after his speech riled up the crowd, with a mob attacking him in his car. Before the pandemonium was over, the internet imagined two wildly opposing scenarios. Some saw liberals standing up to a hateful extremist; others spread talk of this being another example of how violent the left is. The irony of the matter is that there may have been no hero here for either side. Before the attack took place, which is never justified, Jake was expressing views as extreme as suggesting that being an American is strictly defined by being White. In schoolboy fashion, he mocked others' accents. The radical left-wing counter-protesters predictably acted violently. And the first thing to get lost in the midst of the rhetoric was any nuance regarding whether this was a black-and-white face-off between good and evil. If you were on the right, the only videos you would have likely seen were the ones where Jake was being attacked; for those on the left, the videos that got the most traction were those that made Jake look as unlikeable as he could be made to seem. They attempted to prevent execution of Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani and Amir Hossein Safari Hosseinabadi in public, but they were not successful. According to reports from the scene, security forces of the regime—including what I consider to be the terrorist Basij paramilitary organization, the terrorist IRGC, and Special Police units—have opened fire on protesters. Gunshots are reportedly being heard across parts of the city this morning as the regime attempts to crush the demonstrations through violence and intimidation.
