Happy 40th anniversary to the Famicom Disk System

Congratulations!

What is that TV? I love it!

The Famicom Disk System was ahead of its time. Save data. Expandable games. 1986 was already thinking about the future.

This was a great system for its time! The added audio channel is subtle but definitely noticeable. Apparently, when the NES arrived in the west, the newer cartridge tech rendered the disk system obsolete but I still can hear a different between the FDS games and their NES counterparts.

We never had this in the west.

Forty years. Famicom Disk System. Blowing cartridges was a ritual.

Happy 40th anniversary to the Famicom Disk System, Nintendo’s innovative floppy-disk add-on that expanded the original Famicom with rewritable media, enhanced audio, and iconic titles that helped shape early home gaming history.

My friend had this in the early 90s. He was from Japan, and we were in boarding school.

Can you please tell me which model that monitor is?

Wow!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s still running.

Happy 40th anniversary to the Famicom Disk System It’s amazing to think how this system helped shape gaming history, especially with its iconic disk-based format. What do you think did the Famicom Disk System influence the evolution of gaming consoles?
