Here's an interesting trend I've noticed among non-fiction authors: The Direct Pre-Order. Instead of doing pre-orders through Amazon, B&N, and other major marketplaces, you sell your books directly through your own (or your publisher's) online store. Why do this? There are three huge benefits: 1. Build a direct connection with your readers 2. Offer bundles and unique pre-order perks 3. Keep 40% more of each sale by avoiding Amazon royalty fees Plus, it's just a better experience for your readers. Look at the examples I share in the video. We are doing direct pre-orders for Damn Gravity's two upcoming titles: 'The Experimentation Machine' by Jeff Bussgang and 'Building Rocketships' by Oji Udezue and Ezinne Udezue But we aren't the only ones. Jim O'Shaughnessy is doing this with his new book (published by ). Louis Grenier and Justin Moore | Sponsorship Coach are too (@TiltPublishing ). It's not a new thing... HBR and other indie publishers have experimented with this for a long time. But now it's easier than ever to pull off with platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, etc. The Direct Pre-Order has tradeoffs... your sales don't count towards major lists and shipping is a bit more expensive (compared to FREE via Amazon Prime). But I believe it's worth the direct connection to you make with your readers. We will offer our books on Amazon, B&N, and all the major platforms when we launch early next year. Introducing Impeccable 3.5, the best way to design in production: iterate on real UI with your AI agent, in the codebase you actually ship. Turns out many popular design skills, including Impeccable and Anthropic's frontend-design, weren't actually very good at...design (the workflow was valuable, but the output didn't magically make LLMs like GPT great designers). We measured it across thousands of generations: 74% of pages used the cream AI-default background, 76% reached for extreme letter-spacing, 90%+ failed the contrast floor. So we started fixing slop systematically, specific to each model. The skill now compiles rules for the exact defects each model makes, instead of shipping one generic file to everyone. The biggest jump is in GPT-5.5 and Codex. Also new: ◆ It now knows the difference between a new project and an existing one. Existing codebase, it reads your design system and preserves your identity. Greenfield, it seeds a fresh palette from 129 hand-curated anchors so every cold start doesn't drift to the same safe colors. ◆ Live Mode is now in beta, and works at two scales. Type a direction into the new Steer bar, or speak it, and the agent reads the whole page and edits it in place. Or pick a single element, steer it with a sub-command, live-edit any copy, and accept the variant straight back to source. Insert mode scaffolds brand-new elements between the ones already there. Recovery survives HMR, hidden heroes, and dev-tool overlays. ◆ A rebuilt anti-pattern detector. Torn off jsdom and onto a real CSS cascade resolver: roughly 20x faster, dependency-free, and now small enough to run inline inside the skill, not just the CLI and extension. 14 new rules, 41 total. ◆ The skill keeps itself current, checking once a day and offering to update. Happy Final Space Friday! Lots to update. So here’s the thing… since I legally can’t do a digital version of the comic, I’ve been digging into a little loophole: a motion comic. Like… an actual video version of the book. Still testing it, but Daz Tibbles did a rough test and is trying a few motion poster tests with other characters. If we pull this off, it’s gonna take FOREVER but it’s possible. That’s the key word here. Possible. And maybe worth it. Over on the Color Edition, the print file’s coming together clean. The whole focus right now is threefold: 1.Resizing 2. Color matching 3.And the “Zazz Pass” (if a tweak takes under 30 minutes, I’m hitting it). I’m building a punch list and should have some before/after examples to show off next week. It’s looking really good. On the Midnight Edition, we’re building out the UV Spot File for the cover titles on the front, spine, back, and yep, the shards of glass will glint too. Gonna look sick! Just waiting on the physical samples to land at my door so I can approve it for full print run. Also printer flagged 15 pages where the text bubbles were a little too close to the cut line, so I went in, fixed them, and sent them back. And yes, I asked about international languages. It’s doable, but that’s a whole other mountain would need to re-letter the whole thing. I’m shelving that until the English versions are fully out. Adopted 2 benches for Bin at Esplanade, Singapore! 💜🤍 Starting this project as a little secret of mine helped me cope with the grief I had in my heart, because it made me look forward to something, and I really wanted to give something back to Bin for all the times he brought light in my life~ it’s the last precious memory that Bin and I will share together so I’ll keep close to my heart! 🫶🏼 It all started since a few days after the news broke… It started as a thought of “what if I can adopt a bench in Singapore?” after finding out that the Seoul bench adoption will expire in a few years… then the thoughts sparked into an action and after so long it’s finally completed 🥹 23/4/23: the thought process started and the search for a project began 26/4/23: contacted Esplanade 28/4/23: first viewing of the available benches 3/5/23: second viewing of some selected benches, decision to adopt & donation made 29/5/23: Plaques on benches installed It was tough choosing the locations, but what finally got me to decide was the amazing view and breeze at the waterfront bench 🌃🌬️, and the sighting of some butterflies and the moon at the Forecourt garden bench 🦋🌙 Bin-ah I asked you multiple times to tell me what you wanted since I couldn’t decide, and it seems like you wanted both (hence the strong winds like you were giving me a hug at the first bench and the moon at night at the second bench)… so I got you both are you happy?🤭 You can choose to sit at the waterfront bench and enjoy the breeze and pretty waters which I know you’ll love, or you can go to the forecourt bench and lie down and sleep because it’s so big 😂 The waterfront bench has a 10 year renewal so I’ll renew every 10 years as I renew my promise to remember you and live well~ and the Forecourt garden bench is a lifetime adoption which means you’ll always be remembered~ But Bin-ah was it your doing? I wanted the plaques to be up on the 26th of May since 26 is a special number because of your birthday, but there was a delay so it couldn’t be done! Then I requested for 6th June as it’ll be the 49th day of you leaving to a happier place but… suddenly the admin staff told me they were installing it yesterday??? What were the odds? It was right after my exams… was that you delaying the project because you wanted me to focus on my exams?🥹🥲 I wrote in my letter that I wanted you to bless me for my exams and I guess you did by celebrating with me with such news after the exams 😌 I guess you also wanted to visit earlier 🤭 It’s a bittersweet feeling really… I’m really happy with what I’ve done yet it hurts thinking of the reason of why I even thought of this project to do… I’ll come often when I miss you so please visit often okay! You did mention that you wanted to come to Singapore for the fancon, so now I’ve made a place that’s specially for you so please visit often!! 😄 My favourite moon, you’ll always shine the brightest! The original plan for Live Aid was to perform the track together live, with Bowie at Wembley Stadium and Jagger at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia. It soon became apparent that the satellite link-up between the two countries would mean a half-second delay, rendering the plan impossible. Instead, the pair convened at Westside Studios in London on 29th June, where Bowie was working with producers Clive Langer & Alan Winstanley. The duo went directly from the studio to Spillers Millennium Mills in the East End to shoot the video with director David Mallet, who had previously worked with Bowie on the groundbreaking Ashes To Ashes video. The video has been upgraded to high resolution to celebrate the anniversary using the original film negative. HOW THE HOLOGRAPHIC SIMULATION WORKS (Update 12/11/24) Your ‘reality’ is a holographic projection that comes from your own eyes that are not like camera lenses, but literally projection lenses. How it works is complex, but here is the actual science. There is no such thing as material matter. It takes energy to cast something into fully visible 'solid' form (still a hologram). So as shown in Kirlian photography (spectrography) that shows the aura of things, you can see that even if you cut part of a leaf away, there is still an energy you normally won't see with your eyes that casts out the 'solid' form of that thing within the simulation that clearly appears through the camera. That part of the leaf is "gone", yet the energy field of that shape is still there. See video below: 👉 The Phantom Leaf in Kirlian Photography. The phantom part of the leaf is the plasma body, or 'ghost' energy field, and the physical leaf is merely a holographic expression of what the thing should appear as. These two things, while totally integrated normally, are not dependent on each other to still exist. Ghosts that are disembodied still have their energetic light body essence; they just can't assemble the 'physical' part of it anymore. So they can't touch things, taste things, or experience life, all they can do now is watch it around them. That is, unless they go to the astral fields where they can materialize there, but those are artificial worlds the invader races have set up as honeypot traps for the disembodied to now produce loosh for them, just as they are doing to manifest beings here in the looking glass simulation. You built this simulation called a time matrix. Other fractals of your collective of Prime Creator (you can think of as bratty siblings) came along and set up a new simulation nested within this 'organic' one in order to trick you so they can harvest your energy. This is in the way of your light body power, as well as in using you to funnel vast wealth to them through taxes, taxes and more taxes. They also eat your kids (more taxes). The way the hologram is actually projected around you is through projector lenses we call our eyes we think allow us to ‘see’. In reality it is our pineal gland that sees and our eyes merely project our inclusion into the shared reality scape before us so others can see us. And while that might seem impossible to understand, this is how anything within the simulation materializes. Eyes are not camera lenses as touched on above. The optical lenses that stack up inside the pupil are the same convex-to-concave as projection lenses are arranged. They literally cannot 'see' something, they can only project images. In quantum science experiments, such as the Double Slit, it is proven that the aether does not materialize before you the simulation of molecular 'matter' unless the scientist is looking at the experiment. Then that experiment only functions according to the preconception of that particular scientist. The same test run by two different people reveals two different actions. That's because these are two different realities. Yours and theirs. We all live in our own unique worlds, and agree on things like 'leaves are green'. But in reality, my green might be your purple. It is a shared reality field made up of different but complimentary worlds. How you really see is through the 3rd eye pineal gland as mentioned earlier. Naturally the ancients knew this eons ago -now engraved, painted and depicted all across ancient Egypt-. It has the clear ability to see 360 degrees around you what it is you expect to see in that precise spot on earth because the spacetime fabric is holding the colors, shapes and outlines of every leaf and tree and blade of grass that is supposed to be "there" according to all the other people around you that are projecting the same image in the same designated spot, and because you are now looking in that direction, you can see it. Your pineal gland now sends that live image down to your heart with your own body now blended into that same picture where you weren't previously standing, because you don't actually have a body to 'stand' anywhere. HOW THE HOLOGRAPHIC SIMULATION WORKS (Update 12/11/24) Your ‘reality’ is a holographic projection that comes from your own eyes that are not like camera lenses, but literally projection lenses. How it works is complex, but here is the actual science. There is no such thing as material matter. It takes energy to cast something into fully visible 'solid' form (still a hologram). So as shown in Kirlian photography (spectrography) that shows the aura of things, you can see that even if you cut part of a leaf away, there is still an energy you normally won't see with your eyes that casts out the 'solid' form of that thing within the simulation that clearly appears through the camera. The way the hologram is actually projected around you is through projector lenses we call our eyes we think allow us to ‘see’.
