Happy 87th Birthday, Billy Kilmer! "Ol' Whiskey". One tough, tough dude. Originally drafted as a halfback out of UCLA by the #49ers in 1961, Kilmer led the team in rushing touchdowns as rookie — finishing second in the NFL. He didn't really begin his pro quarterbacking career in earnest until he was tabbed the Saints franchise's first starting QB in 1967. In 1971, Billy was traded to Washington, where he led the Redskins to their first postseason appearance in 26 years. The following season, Kilmer led the NFL in touchdown passes, earning Pro Bowl and All-NFC honors as he led Washington to its first NFC title and Super Bowl appearance. #HTTR He retired after the 1978 season.
