I am using the inspiration of this day to break myself free from my addictions, specifically alcohol. Renewal. It starts today.

You might be wondering, how does Christ's death have anything to do with us? What’s it all about? Why doesn’t the Antichrist of Canterbury explain this stuff? How does it "pay" for our sins? Here's a breakdown: Sin (us doing things that are wrong) creates a divide between humanity and God / a perfect universe. According to the scriptures, the consequence of sin is Hell (a crap, unhappy life), or death —after all why should humans with all the evil we do be allowed to mess up a perfectly functioning universe? God, the creator, in His infinite love and mercy, didn't want that permanent separation. So, Christ, who is both fully divine and fully human, stepped into the gap. Nobody disputes He walked amongst us 2000 years ago to experience life as we do. He faced exactly the same deal we do —He spoke the harder truth rather than the easier lies. He had friends, but one of them betrayed him and others bailed out under pressure. He did good, yet powerful interests saw Him as a threat to their authority and wealth and they orchestrated His crucifixion. That same story happens over and over again right now -except we call it being ‘cancelled’. By willingly dying on the cross, rather than leaving us, he chose to experience the human condition from being top boy one moment to being killed the next. People spat at him, jeered and took the piss as he was being crucified in agonising pain. The two other guys being crucified alongside Jesus were criminals. One of them joined in and mocked Jesus, while the other defended Him, acknowledging his own guilt and Jesus's innocence. This interaction is the choice humanity faces: to reject or accept Christ as Saviour. Jesus, even in the midst of his own suffering on the cross, showed compassion and forgiveness. He asked God to forgive the repentant criminal AND those who were crucifying him, saying, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." This act of forgiveness shows Jesus's teachings of love and mercy, even towards his enemies. He took upon Himself the consequences of all human sin, past, present, and future and took the death we deserve for every person we’ve upset and every damn thing we’ve got wrong in our lives. This ultimate sacrifice ensures that anyone can be forgiven and reconciled with God. It's not about wealth, your looks, or any worldly criteria—it's a gift extended to ALL, solely due to His unconditional love (grace). It's an open invitation for anyone willing to embrace change. It’s akin to someone stepping in to pay a debt you could never afford, not because they have to, but because they want to give you a fresh start, because they love you without conditions. Christ’s death and subsequent resurrection (celebrated on Easter Sunday) are seen as the ultimate victory over sin and death, offering hope of eternal life and a restored relationship with God. Ok so what do I have to do? In short —be sorry for the bad things you have done, and MEAN IT. That’s called repentance. And from that point on make a positive choice to live according to Christian values. Believe me, your life will get so much better. So this Easter Sunday, let's vibe with this incredible story. And it's about being part of something truly extraordinary. Throughout history, Christian nations have been the driving force behind the most awe-inspiring acts of compassion and progress. We ended slavery. We’ve built hospitals to heal the sick, universities to educate the masses, and charities to lift up the needy. We’ve championed justice, fought against oppression, and spread civilisation to the far corners of the earth. From the Renaissance to the modern era, we've pushed the boundaries of human achievement in art, science, and philanthropy. And let's not forget that Christianity has shaped our very identities—our names, often inspired by saints and biblical figures, carry the legacy of this faith. From Paul and Peter to James, Aaron, Rebecca and Elizabeth and many others, Christianity has left an indelible mark on our culture and our hearts. So, let's tap into that legacy, embrace the love, and let it propel us to do even more wondrous things in the world. 💖🌿
