I’ve argued with coal miners about this. I get that it’s hard work, but let’s be real—it’s not some sacred tradition we need to keep alive. It’s dangerous, dirty, and there are better jobs out there. Romanticizing it helps no one.

in Italy we had mines almost like that until 1979... most of the people working in them died in their sixties because of pulmonary emphysema... breathing that air slowly kills you
