Farm stand in Bridgewater New Jersey at risk for storage facility that's not even zoned for it 🧐 Here is the info from her Facebook handle about what's going on "This farm stand has sold fruit and vegetables on this spot for decades. Melick's Town Farm has run it since 2005 (it was Bob’s Fruit Stand before that), and the town’s zoning doesn’t allow storage on this lot. The developer needs a variance to do it anyway, and part of the plan turns the site into a retention pond. Bridgewater’s 2025 Master Plan calls for promoting farm markets like this one. Now is an opportunity to live up to it. The Zoning Board votes on the variance July 14th, 7 PM, at 100 Commons Way (Bridgewater Municipal Building). Show up if you can, or send the board a written comment. Feel free to use the template at the link below. Public input on the record counts. Farming is a vocation that requires 24/7 attention on the farm. And perhaps special talent like the Dutch compared to the rest of Europe. One cannot farm by cellphone and expect a good harvest. They sent me a video of my cocoa harvest today. I planted the seedlings some four years ago from proceeds I earned as a research writer on fiver. I bought 8 acres of farmland and planted cocoa on it. When i started, I didn't know I'd one day be fully invest in farming. Today, I have close to 40 acres of farmland and still hoping to hit 100 acres before the year ends. In the second frame is the oil palm and cocoa nursery for a 20 acre famrland i just cleared and preparing for the planting season. You are welcome to my farm journey. If you want to go into farming, this page is the right place for you

I’m posting this today to show what cattle can do for the environment and the country! Last night my county board had a vote to approve another solar farm on someone’s farm. I voted no but it passed 10-5. They did not answer my question as to why they put farms out of production instead of putting the panels over parking lots of schools for instance. Give taxpayers some tax relief I said!! Wishy washy answers always! It is a total scam and it’s going to hurt us all in the long run! I was an outlier on Covid early on and I’m an outlier on this but I’ll die on this hill too! Keep our lands productive and sustainable!! Landowners- do your homework and consider something else!!🪓

ALERT: Farmer who attracted massive crowds by giving away free nectarines has been ordered to destroy his fruit trees. Cesar Mora is a farmer who was in a legal battle with Giumarra Brothers Fruit Company over the rights to his fruit. “Giumarra claims ownership of the variety of fruit Cesar grows and has sued him for breach of contract.” Mora claimed the agricultural giant blocked him from packaging or selling any of the fruit during an ownership dispute, so Mora gave away thousands of the fruit for free. Mora had a contract with Giumarra that claimed exclusive rights to his fruit, but Mora was allegedly selling to other distributors. After a 3-hour deliberation, a jury found that Mora was in breach of his contract but that he should not have to pay anything to Giumarra Brothers. Mora’s attorneys say they will appeal, but Mora has been ordered to destroy all of his nectarine trees by October. “I’m done. I mean, they came knocking on my door... So, how can I have a company that’s going out and trying to find small growers to sign them up for programs like this where all they do is harm me? They didn’t do many any favors. Growing Men. It’s absolutely the most important crop that’s grown on this farm and many others. Today it’s my nephew and frankly he’s old hat to this. This country needs a hell of a lot more like him! Btw, he got a 35 on his ACT so don’t stereotype farm kids and think we’re dumb hicks! My own 3 kids were just like this and most farm kids I know are over the top intelligent and also capable outside of the classroom! Farm tough 🦾🇺🇸

Today we start a new chapter at Affinity Farms. I always remember my dad talking about grandpa bringing home the first tractor on the farm 75years ago and his dad telling him, standing behind a horse drawn plow, get that thing out of here you’re going to tear down every piece of corn in this field. I always wondered what it was like seeing that transformation, living in a time where machinery replaced horses on the farm. Today we started what I think will be transformational not just for our farm, but for so many. We parked our big planters and tractors in the shed and set loose autonomy on the farm. Handing over all of our fall seeding for cash crop barley, rye and wheat. And planting all of our corn and soybeans next spring. While far from full autonomy on the farm it’s a giant leap of faith in that direction. There will be many hiccups along the way, but it’s something worth trying! Huge thank you to AIT, Precision Planting, and Sabanto for helping bring autonomy to row cropping. And a huge thank you to the farm team for the trust and commitment as we steer through the coming challenges and opportunities! Can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Leave my water on, defy the water board, they sue me, take my farm. So either way it goes, I'm gonna lose my farm. For what, What gain does the state get for stealing my water. What gain do I get? Nothing. I lose my farm, can't pay my bills — So when are you going to wake up, California?”

Today morning as I was jogging in Muiden - Nederland, I saw a big farm with such big big cows 🐄. I said to myself “ i will go and have look and ask abt farming. I know am not on appointment and don’t know these people but well if they welcome me, it wud be great, if they don’t, glad I would have tried.” I walked there. On my first sight, I met the wife who’s in her late 40’s. She was busy mowing grass. She smiled at me and I told her my issue. Well she said she’s busy but I can go ask her husband. As a big headed person I went to the husband, Pete. The guy is 54 yrs. He was busy fixing the farm tractor 🚜. Told him am Ugandan and interested in looking around to learn how their farm works. He said “yes”. And that was the beginning of the entire 2 hours I spent with them. He showed me the food, the milk and the milking by the robot. He showed me feeds. What surprised me is the attitude he has towards his farm. He has been on this farm since day one of his birth. The farm has gone through generations. It was started 200yrs ago and it’s still going on. In my time with him, I have learnt that the things we ignore most in Uganda 🇺🇬 are the things they take seriously. They work with a good attitude and get rich. Then the govt taxes them and gives us donations. Farming is their solution. They love and farm with passion. In our land farming is for the old. A child sells of their land to start a phone business at Kooki towers. Our mind needs to be reset.
