So, 51.9% was enough to take us out of Europe, with Scotland and Northern Ireland voting against. Yet Scotland needs “clear consensus” just to get a vote? Funny how division is democracy when Westminster gets its way, but a reason to refuse a ballot when we want ours. @iScotNews

😂😂 that was pretty funny watching him stumble and stutter trying to answer the question. Although where did this "clear consensus" shit come from? Surely that is the point of a referendum?

The guy who became prime minister coz 24k folk in makerfield voted for him, saying 5.5m people in Scotland can’t vote (either way) on their countries future. Dick

A generation was never written into any document. This was a tag line from a politician. The Smith Commision says otherwise. You unelected fucking colonial prick.

@IkaFerrerGotic Nope. He can dress it up any way he likes but he continues a long line of Englishmen telling Scots that democracy ends at the border. And that our voices, votes and opinions don’t matter.

Makerfield MP Andy Burnham rules out another Independence Referendum for a generation saying we need to concentrate on the cost of living crisis which Westminster caused.

Yet another undemocratic London PM thinks his view is more important than the people that live and work here. Scotland elected a pro indy parliament , they have the right to decide their own future.

Scotland won't get another referendum because the English PM thinks we may vote yes and he's taking no chances. He couldn't give a fuck about democracy, the right to self-determination or what the majority wants. It's about what's best for England. End of.

Still FAR weaker than it needs to be. The correct answer is: "I am the leader of the UK and I will not let a minority of noisy nationalists in one part of the country break up the entire country."

This is a PM very clearly for England. He made stupid comments about the north of Ireland and now he clearly sees Scotland as a colony not as an equal partner. He just stumbles and stutters and is out of his depth.

Not his decision.

Listen to him stutter through this interview @andyburnham we don’t care that you don’t support a referendum we in Scotland voted for it that democracy if 7 yrs is a generation for N.Ireland then 7yrs is good enough for Scotland polls are showing 52%Democracy is not a single event

Arrogant Areshole

@andyburnham What exactly do you consider a level of consensus % wise? What evidence do you have that makes you think there isn’t?? A lot of people in 🏴 would be VERY interested..

No , he’s a Unionist ,his union is under threat ,he’s nothing without his union. England relies on the Union because without they have nothing.

Things have changed Brexit etc , time to have a vote what are they scared of

Why is he always going on about the north of England?? Isn’t he prime minister of the UK? Clear he doesn’t care about outside of England.

Questions coming from Colin feel less like scrutiny and more like aggressive interruptions. Hard to take “debate” seriously when one side won’t let anyone finish a sentence. #SNPTV

Further devolution would be a disaster in Scotland, the powers would not be passed down, they’d be held at Holyrood by the power hungry nationalists.

He was tripping over himself just regurgitating words from other past and failed Prime Ministers.

Can we get a vote on closing holyrood...giving this mob more power is not what we want...

🏴 same as N.Ireland 50%+1 get a majority get indyref 'now is not the time' no consensus 🇬🇧👊 🐴💩 @andyburnham smell the fear #Democracy

Labour will cease to exist in Scotland now

No10 North is in Manchester so clearly Andy doesn't even know Scotland exists. Decolonisation

@JOLLYGYM What a slavering erse he is. #LabourLiar

He speaks for Scots now? He should get back on his bus.

What currency would we use on day one ? How high would inflation and interest rates be ? How much state pension would we get ? How much would the welfare bill be ? How high would taxes go up by ? How brutal would public cuts be ? How many would lose their jobs ?

John Swinney would sh*t himself if Andy gave him the go ahead, win (unlikely) or lose the SNP would dissolve and they’d all lose their highly lucrative careers.

Westminster granted a referendum when Yes was polling at about 30%, now it’s nearer 50% they are less keen, funny that

Even if you ignore the fact that Burnham said in the House of Commons just a couple of weeks ago that it is exactly the same as the Good Friday Agreement (ie as frequently as seven years), we actually passed into a new generational period in 2024/25.

He was like a blind drunken sailor, he didn't know what to say or any direction in which to go in.

Just another English torrag.

Can't think on his feet at all.

Only cares about the North of England he said
