Harris is set to campaign with El-Sayed in Michigan on Tuesday. “Bringing Kamala Harris in to stump for him, specifically to boost his approvals with Black voters, is a good thing… We want Abdul to win… This is not about agreeing with Kamala Harris. It’s not about her positions,” said Piker. “The question always is: Do you want to win? And if you want to win, you have to do this. Okay? I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all. I think it’s a good idea.” The move has drawn pushback from pro-Palestinian critics who see campaigning alongside Harris as whitewashing her role as Vice President in an administration that continued supplying Israel with massive quantities of weapons to obliterate civilian life in Gaza for 15 months. Wow… Abdul El-Sayed is going to have a tough time with Black voters in Detroit. Black voters in Detroit feel disenfranchised and neglected by the Democrat Party. “I don’t think any Democratic Party prioritizes the Black vote because it’s always a ploy to get the Black vote. They make all these promises, but once that vote is in and stuff like that, then it’s operation as normal.” Abdul El-Sayed struggled with Black voters in the primary election...it's only going to get worse. This is more evidence that people are waking up to the neglect of the Democrat Party.

Black voters who show up are the party’s most loyal base — over 80% of Black men and more than 90% of Black women vote Democratic. If you want different outcomes, you have to make different investments. The only place Democrats have flipped Senate seats in the South is Georgia, the third Blackest state in America — where there was a real investment in turning out Black voters. The question isn’t complicated: Why aren’t Democrats investing in the Black vote in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi? Also, primaries are about turning out your bases. The data says that Talarico had the money and time to invest in turning out white and Hispanic voters. To win he will have to do what no other Texas Democrat has been able to do in a general election — invest in Black voters to turnout Black communities.
