But that's not inherently true. After all, we spend more money on average on social security and medicare and medicaid than we do on the military. As of FY2024, Medicare spending was approx. $847B and Medicaid/CHIP was approx. $584B. We spent over 1.5 trillion on Social Security, and 883.7 billion on the military. So this idea that "any dollar spent on a bomb is a dollar stolen from you" is zero sum nonsense. It's like saying "because you spent money on these apples, therefore nobody can buy apples anymore". There's lots of apples! People can GET apples.
