Let’s talk about Eden Santos of Net 25 I sided with Pia Rañada when Duterte banned her from the palace for asking hard questions and demanding answers — it is funny how the Duterte supporters/ vloggers like Atty. Harry Roque now is defending Eden Santos. I agree with the observations of many, that the questions of Eden Santos are only propaganda disguised as questions. More often than not, she asks the most ridiculous questions that no self-respecting journalist would dare ask. Questions that seem to parrot the baseless accusations of the Duterte vloggers. I don’t know if it is Net25 as a network or basically just her, but I think that the Palace Press Officer, the Executive Secretary and their guest in briefings are handling her as well as they can. I have been to at least two events of the President as her avid supporter — there’s really a protocol in place not just for the mainstream media but also for the guests, even for their friends. Protocols laid out to secure the safety of the President which even during the time of Rodrigo Roa Duterte was absolutely necessary. The issue of Pia Rañada is different from the issue of Eden Santos. Without breaking the protocol, she will have the opportunity to ask the President questions — she will still have the opportunity to take videos. Holy cow people the question wasn’t great, but just answer it man. It’s reactive in those scrums, everyone maneuvering for the mic, and candidly, it’s nervy asking questions close up to them. It kind of reminded me of this at the Players. I saw it happen and it left an impression. He was talking about testing other drivers on the range, but stuck with it on Thursday. The reporter followed up and asked him “Are you sticking with it?” I’m appreciative that this part of it is not something he asked for. To stand there, after a round that demanded full attention, and answer a few sub-par questions sucks. Tough part of the job. But the others guys job is follow him around the course all day and ask 1 question, and you don’t have to embarrass that guy either. I’m certain he’s not a jerk. He’s the best in the game, and a faith oriented family man and I love that. But this kind of stuff comes off with arrogance to me 🤷‍♂️
