My black beauty got reddy-brown as he aged. Here he is at 19 years old. His vet said it's normal. Same think happened with my other black girl.

Is it a 100% cotton cat or nylon? The nylon ones don't fade, and live a lot longer, but not as soft.

Our black cat does it a bit. Most black cats turn some amount of "Rust" in the sun. It's called black cat rust.

Cutie -pie is turning into a redhead. When I was a teenager , many moons ago, I sprayed “Sun-In” on my hair & sunbathed to be blonde. It turned orange!!!

It’s called rusting. Part sun lightening but mostly just its light bringing out color of black cat
