That rule needs to be amended. I agree with ending the shift but awarding first base on a routine ground ball because the fielders back heels touched the grass is outside of the nature of the game.

Y'know, I'm glad this helped the Mariners, but baseball has some of the dumbest rules in all of professional sports.

That was bush league. How many infielders have their heels touching the grass at some point in the game? Seattle better make sure their infielders have plenty of day light between their heel and the grass moving forward. This may come back and bite them in the ass.

Here's a novel idea, let the defense line up wherever they want & let the hitter learn to use the entire field. If they over shift, then hit the ball the other way or lay down a bunt. Its ridiculous that MLB hitters can't use the entire field and rules have to be made like this.

The MLB placed a pitch clock to speed up the game. Great improvement. This kind of nonsense should be called as a delay of game. Like an infielder never played a ball from the grass.

Congratulations you just made baseball worse for the entire league with this challenge. I agree the shift needed to go but this type of challenge just further destroys baseball at its core. Rules are rules but small victory for a bigger loss overall.
