Drawing similarities from 1992, his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II own "Annus Horribilis"; as there were multiple marriage breakdowns within the family and a major fire at Windsor🔥 Now 32 years later, Interestingly set in the backdrop of Windsor as well, Prince William faced his own Sombre Year full of turmoil and Health crisis for both his wife and father. The Article reads: "It was a year in which certain aspects of Prince William's approach were cemented: family came first, the school run was prioritised. First drive & impressions of FSD 14.2 in South Central Texas. I just received the update on my 2025 Model 3 & went out to test it on some areas where FSD has had difficulties in previous versions including the previous FSD 14.1.7 and also to get overall impressions. Overall, it did well over about 45 miles of driving on rural highways, congested areas with lots of traffic, construction, grocery store busy parking lots & rural post office destinations. Although in general it did very well in a variety of situations, a few stood out that I want to highlight where I did have disconnects & unusual behaviors that seem to have been introduced with FSD 14.2. Summary of Strengths: Smooth, confident most of the time, and polished. Felt comfortable at all times while FSD was driving the car. This includes all of the driver settings (Sloth, Chill, Standard, Hurry & Mad Max) Opportunities & areas with challenges: - Navigation database mismatches really becoming a glaring deficiency with the approach Tesla AI is using, not just because of recent or ongoing construction, but also with established routes, roads & destinations - FSD 14.2 stopped unexpectedly at a gas station that was not part of the route or any destination in the route. After parking, I tapped the Start Self Driving button and the car resumed as if it was starting at an intermediate stopping point & it continued on to the original destination. - A second strange Navigation challenge happened when arriving at my home. For no apparent reason, it tried to go to my neighbors house … something no previous FSD version has done. Very strange. - Construction prevented FSD from entering into the selected grocery store entrance, but instead of taking several obvious nearby detour routes or doing a U-turn, it re-mapped the route & drove a few miles past the grocery store & into a residential area, did a turn around & then rerouted all the way back to the grocery store. This was several miles of added driving & passed numerous paths that were much closer & available. - Parking in angled parking spaces continues to be a big challenge for FSD 14.2 … it took up two parking spaces & at an odd angle when parking at a rural Post Office, disregarding the painted signs & angled marks on the parking spaces & the sign posts for the parking spaces. It also attempted to drive the wrong way in the one-way parking area. - Speed profiles seem a bit better, but speeding, especially in my neighborhood area is still excessive. For some reason, a posted 25 mph section showed a 65 mph speed sign on the MCU display & FSD tried to drive to that speed. This might be related to navigation databases mismatches issues mentioned earlier. In summary, I think Tesla FSD 14.2 shows some promising signs of progress, but still has several areas that need additional work, the biggest of which is the navigation databases mismatch issues. I’d like to see some way for owners to provide inputs to the FSD team to provide navigation map updates that can help fix these issues. Also, having a way to “train” FSD in specific areas, say at your home so it knows how to properly enter the driveway, back into the garage, select which side of the garage, etc… would be very helpful.

We have quite a show for you tonight. I think you're going to like it. As you can see, I just arrived in the Robotaxi, the Cybercab. And there's 20 more where that came from. So they've been traveling, there's no people in them. As you can see, the car is just going by with no people. We have 50 fully autonomous cars here tonight. So you'll see model Y's and the Cybercabs, all driverless. You'll be able to take a ride in the Cybercab. There's no steering wheel or pedals. So I hope this goes well, we'll find out. You see a lot of sci-fi movies where the future is dark and dismal, where it's not a future you want to be in. So, you know, I love Blade Runner, but I don't know if we want that future. We want that duster he's wearing, but not the bleak apocalypse. We want to have a fun, exciting future that, if you could look in a crystal ball and see the future, you'd be like, yes, I wish I could be there now. That's what we want. Cybercab & Future of transportation So, when we think about transport today, there's a lot of pain that we take for granted, that we think is normal. Like having to drive around LA in 3 hours of traffic. Yeah, people that live in LA, I mean, you know, try to get from Pasadena to El Segundo during rush hour. You can fly to another city faster than you can get to LA. And you have to drive the whole way, unless you're in a Tesla. Of course, our Tesla already does quite well at this supervised self-driving. So, supervised full self-driving is actually working quite well. I'm sure there's people in the crowd who are using that. So, we'll move from supervised full self-driving to unsupervised full self-driving where the car, you could fall asleep and wake up at your destination. But there's also a challenge for a lot of people that cars cost too much. I mean, when you factor in everything that goes into a car and the car insurance and the car payments, storage of the car, it's very expensive. You say, like, how many hours a week are cars used? Your average passenger car is only used about 10 hours a week out of 168 hours. So, the vast majority of the time cars are just doing nothing. But if they're autonomous, they could be used, I don't know, five times more, maybe ten times more. So you could actually, for the same car, would have five times as much value, maybe ten times as much value. There's 168 hours in the week, and like I said, only ten of them are used for driving. And then, a bunch of those hours are looking for a parking spot, which can be pretty annoying at times. So, with autonomy, you get your time back. This is a very big deal. So it's not just, it'll save lives, like a lot of lives and prevent injuries. I think we'll see autonomous cars become ten times safer than a human. I mean, if you think of times past where there used to be an elevator operator in every elevator but once in a while, they get tired and accidentally shear somebody in half. Now, we have automated elevators. You just get an elevator and you press a button and you don't even think about it and it just takes you to the floor. And if you did see an elevator operator with a big relay switch, you'd be like, that's weird. That's how cars will be. And it's not just the lives saved in injuries, but if you think about the cumulative time that people spend in a car and the time that they will get back that they can now spend, well, I guess, on their phones or watching a movie or doing work or whatever you want to do you can think of the car in autonomous world as being like just little lounge. You're just sitting in a comfortable little lounge and you can do whatever you want while you're in this comfortable little lounge. And when you get out, you will be at your destination. So, yeah, it's gonna be awesome. Cost So, in fact, I think the cost of autonomous transport will be so low that you can think of it like individualized mass transit. The average cost of a bus per mile for a city, not the ticket price, because that is subsidized, but the average price is about a dollar a mile, whereas the cost of Cybercab we think probably over time, the operating cost is probably going to be around twenty cents a mile. Including taxes and everything else, it probably ends up being 30 or 40 cents a mile. And you will be able to buy one. And we expect the cost to be below $30,000. And I think there'll be an interesting business model where, let's say somebody is an Uber or Lyft driver today where they can actually sort of manage a fleet of cars and like, sort of manage, I don't know, 10, 20 cars and just take care of them. Like a shepherd tends their flock. You have a little flock of cars and you're the shepherd and you take care of your flock of cars. I think that would be pretty cool. I think it's going to be a glorious future. It's going to be really something special. Timeline We do expect actually to start fully autonomous unsupervised FSD in Texas and California next year. And that's obviously, that's with the Model 3 and Model Y. And then we expect to be in production with the Cybercab, which is really highly optimized for autonomous transport in probably, I tend to be a little optimistic with time frames, but in 2026. So, yeah, before 2027, let me put it that way. And we'll make this vehicle in very high volume. But well, before that, you will experience a robotic taxi via the Model 3 and Model Y program and model S and X, too. But the Model 3 and Y will achieve unsupervised full self-driving with permission, in wherever regulators essentially approve it. In the US, and then to follow outside the US. And Cybertruck, too. All our cars are basically, all cars that we make. Let's not get nuanced here. Self-driving technology One of the reasons why the computer can be so much better than a person is that we have millions of cars that are training on driving. It's like living millions of lives simultaneously and seeing very unusual situations that a person in their entire lifetime would not see. With that amount of training data, it's obviously going to be much better than what a human could be because you can't live a million lives. And it's also, it can see in all directions simultaneously and it doesn't get tired or text or any of those things. So, it will naturally be, like I said 10, 20, 30 times safer than a human, just for all those reasons. And I want to emphasize that the solution that we have is, AI and vision. So, there's no expensive equipment needed. The Model 3 and Model Y and S and X that we make today will be capable of full autonomy, unsupervised. And that means that our cost of producing the vehicle is low. Now, we are going to actually over-spec the computer for the Cybercab. So, our AI 5 computer will be somewhat over-spec'd because I think there's actually also an opportunity, sort of like an Amazon Web Services, where if the car is driving for 50 hours a week, there's still over 100 hours left and there's a potential there to have a massive amount of distributed inference compute, where if you've got like a fleet of 100 million vehicles and a kilowatt of efficient inference compute, you have 100 gigawatts of compute, which is really quite substantial. And if it's there, you might as well use it so that I think will make sense. So, our autonomous future is here. As I said, we've got 50 Teslas driving autonomously. We're trying to give you a sense of what cities will be like in the future. And when you get in, you'll see like, it's really quite a wild experience to just be in a car with no steering wheel, no pedals, no controls, and it feels great. So we have enough vehicles here, so everyone should be able to try it out and experience the set that we've built here. It's a very big set. So it's like really we've used I don't know, 20, 30 acres or something like that. It's really big. So, it goes on, the ride's long. And we set it up to feel like a ride, like a park ride. So, it'll be cool and you'll get to experience it tonight. Inductive charging Something we're also doing is and it's really high time we did this is inductive charging. So, the robotaxi has no plug. It just goes over the inductive charger and charges. So, yeah, it's kind of how it should be. The cities of the future One of the things that is really interesting is how will this affect the cities that we live in. And when you drive around a city, or when the car drives you around the city, you'll see there's a lot of parking lots. There's parking lots everywhere, parking garages. What would happen if you have an autonomous world is that you can now turn parking lots into parks. And so, from we're taking the inglot out of parking lot. You're welcome. So, there's a lot of opportunity to create green space in the cities that we live in. So, like, that would be quite fantastic. Robovan Oh, and also, what happens if you need a vehicle that is bigger than a Model Y? The Robovan. We're going to make this and it's going to look like that. Now, can you imagine going down the streets and you see this coming towards you? That'd be sick. So this can carry up to 20 people, and it can also transport goods. You can configure it for goods transport within a city. Or transport of up to 20 people at a time. The Robovan is what's gonna solve for high density. If you want to take a sports team somewhere or you're looking to really get the cost of travel down to, I don't know, 5, 10 cents a mile, then you can use the Robovan. One of the things we want to do, and we've seen this with the Cybertruck, is we want to change the look of the roads. The future should look like the future. Optimus Speaking of robots. Everything we've developed for our cars, the batteries, power electronics, the advanced motors, gearboxes, the software, the AI inference computer, it all actually applies to a humanoid robot. The same techniques. It's just a robot with arms and legs instead of a robot with wheels. We've made a lot of progress with Optimus. And as you can see, we started up with someone in a robot suit. And then, we've progressed dramatically, year after year. So, if you extrapolate this, you're really going to have something spectacular, something that anyone could own. So, you can have your own personal R2-D2-C3PO. And I think at scale, this would cost something like, I don't know, $20,000, $30,000, probably less than a car is my prediction, long-term. It'll take us a minute to get to the long term. But fundamentally, at scale, the Optimus robot, you should be able to buy an Optimus robot for, I think, probably $20,000 to $30,000, long-term. And what can it do? It'll basically do anything you want. It can be a teacher or babysit your kids, it can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend, serve drinks whatever you can think of, it will do. And, yeah, it's going to be awesome. I think this will be the biggest product ever of any kind, because I think everyone of the 8 billion people of Earth, I think everyone's going to want their Optimus buddy. And there's going to be maybe two. And then, they'll be producing products and services. I predict, actually, provided we address risks of digital superintelligence, 80% probability of good outcome, look on the bright side, the cup is 80% full, the cost of products and services will decline dramatically. And basically, anyone will be able to have any products and services they want. It will be an age of abundance the likes of which people have not, almost no one has envisioned. It will be something special. So now, one of the things we wanted to show tonight was that Optimus is not a canned video. It's not walled off. The Optimus robots will walk among you. Please, please be nice to the Optimus robots. You'll be able to walk right up to them and they'll serve drinks at the bar. I mean, it's a wild experience just to have humanoid robots and they're there, you're just in front of you. So yeah, with that, let's party!

Here's a quick summary of what he says: The US has little knowledge of China He says that "the US political system is decentralized and because of the need to win votes, it goes through emotional phases and is entering such a phase now where China is demonized out of mass emotion. There's some manipulation behind the scenes, but it's not based on knowledge." To him, the US "don't understand the nature of China", the fact that China "is constantly building walls around itself because it is happy in its own homogeneity". He says it is wrong for the US to believe that "China wants to displace them as the top dog in the world" and "trying to contain China, even pull it down" as a result. Not only is this a wrong understanding of China's objectives but the US "may exhaust itself in the process and I don't think it will succeed". He says that with its tariffs and sanctions the US risks making the same mistake as China's Qing dynasty and "become very weak". He believes the primacy of the US dollar will break, and that US actions are "bringing forward that day" He says that "the key event will be when the primacy of the US dollar breaks. We all know it's going to break sometime or other because it's abnormal. If it is 30 years from now, well, let's drink and be merry. But if it's five years, well, we've got to calculate, right? Do we know when the cookie will crumble? We don't know. But the way the US is moving is bringing forward that day." It's "bringing forward that day" because "they try to control countries by sanctions" and as a result more and more countries put counter-measures in place, putting themselves out of the grasp of the US. China is not in trouble and "overcapacity" is "information warfare" He says "there's information warfare against China" and that he "doesn't think" China is in trouble. "Look at the factories, look at the EVs, look at how terrified the Europeans are, accusing China of having overcapacity. I mean, how can you blame China for overcapacity when you have, when you're taking liberties with yourself, having long summers and working short hours and you say no, no, no, no, no, you are working too hard! There are consequences. If families take liberties with their children, with themselves, there's consequences." He believes that Asian societies' "wholesomeness" is an advantage versus the West "Look at Asia, look at China, look at Southeast Asia, look at India. There are people who are hardworking, who are obsessed over their children, who want to have of them a higher education, in order that the kids will have a better education, better health, a better life. [...] They'll do well and we're lucky to be in the part of the world where strange values have not taken over societies. [...] Why is America such a big market for drugs today? And I was watching the Eurovision contest... [...] Parts of it, almost satanic. But it's now part of the fashion in most of Europe. What is happening? PM Lee talked about how we should keep all these woke things away from us as much as possible. I fully agree with him. Keep our societies wholesome. Keep our families intact. I mean, AI is very important, but AI cannot answer moral questions for us. In the end, it is every individual, every child who must make the choice. Be immersed in technology. Make use of it. But have our own sense of what it means to be a human being. So if we use that as a template to judge human society, I say we are very lucky to be in a part of the world where society is by and large wholesome and will do well." It's critical for ASEAN to stick together and not be balkanized, which is what the US is trying to do with the Philippines "If we [ASEAN] don't stick together, we'll be balkanized and instead of becoming neighbours, become clients of big powers. Instead of using them, they make use of us. There's always a threat. Look at the Philippines now. The Philippines have legitimate disputes with China. Both sides have their cases. The Americans see an opportunity there. And jump in, and bring in the Japanese. And now Philippine politics is caught up in this [...] [China and the Philippines] had an agreement, a gentleman's agreement with Duterte, which Marcos has repudiated. So OK, so they must find a new way to equilibrium. And make use of the Americans and not be made use of by the Americans. But it's very difficult when you try to make use of a big power, you end up being made use of by them." Most countries in ASEAN do not want China to be an enemy For instance he says "Vietnam has made a very important decision to go with China": "it was not well reported, but Vietnam has agreed that Hanoi will be linked to Kunming and Nanning by high-speed rail. This is big because each connection is tens of billions of dollars. And will change the topological configuration of logistics and supply chain and human movement for decades to come." Same with Indonesia, noting that "Prabowo's first visit [was] to China" and that when he met Xi Jinping "it was Xiao Di talking to Da Ge. A little brother talking to big brother. But when we went to Japan, then it's brother talking to brother." He adds: "Look at the other countries, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei. No one wants China to be an enemy. And the Americans don't understand this, yet. That because China is getting bigger and bigger for us, all of us want the Americans to be in the room. But if the Americans say no, you have to choose between China and us, then they say no, we can't. How can we choose? I mean, China is where our bread is buttered, you know."

Zelensky won the 2019 election by a landslide, securing over 73% of the vote, the highest margin of any previous presidential candidate. He was an appealing candidate as he was a political outsider with a populist agenda. I believe that many Ukrainians saw in him a typical Ukrainian citizen, one who understood the historical blood ties & geographical realities without sacrificing the path to a European future. His central campaign promises were to end the endemic corruption, bring peace with Russia & resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine, promising to “do everything” for a ceasefire, including a dialogue with Russia & implementing the Minsk agreements. He also promised economic reforms to improve living standards, usher in a direct democracy & return power to the people of Ukraine. Any reasonable person should now be able to see just how epically he failed on delivering on those promises. Blaming Russia won’t quite stand up to scrutiny as his approval ratings plummeted to 27% prior to 2022. As we are fortunate to live in a digital age & with Zelensky being a public figure we can look back at what he had to say in his own words well before he chose to enter politics as well as when he was campaigning. In the third video he states in newly learned Ukrainian “I turned to Putin and said: I am ready to get on my knees, just do not put Ukraine on her knees. I am now ready to get on my knees before every mother who did not wait for her son to return from the front. I am ready to kneel before every wife who did not wait for her husband. I am ready to kneel before every child who waited but never saw their father return.” There aren’t enough lifetimes for him to get off his knees at this point. To come back to my previous posts, prior to meeting Zelensky, Putin said this “It’s one thing to play someone & another to be someone. Obviously, acting requires talent. Many talents. One of these talents is impersonation. You can change your role every ten minutes. The prince & the pauper - every 10 minutes, & you have to be convincing in every role. This is really a talent.” … he then proceeded to list the qualities needed to be an effective leader & finished with this “I am not saying that Mr Zelensky lacks these qualities; he very well may possess them. There may be a lack of experience, but experience, as people say, can be gained, it comes quickly. Does he have all the other qualities that I mentioned? He very well may have, but I do not know as he has not shown them in any way so far. But what we see is contradictory statements: he says one thing during the election campaign, & another thing afterward. Time will tell. We will see.” When they met in person in Normandy, Putin followed through on what he said before they met, that he wasn’t outright dismissing him due to his inexperience & initial flip flopping, he was open to having real dialogue & finding solutions. Zelensky’s head of office at the time, who was present for these conversations, emphasized that Putin was respectful & tried to find common ground to resolve issues but instead of taking the opportunity to deliver on what got him elected, Zelensky promised one thing but did nothing. This reaffirmed Putin’s initial observations of Zelensky saying one thing during the election campaign & a completely different thing after. Of course I am well aware that when it comes to this war, what led up to it & whether it could have been avoided, it’s not black & white. It’s complex, multifaceted, brimming with nuance, & cannot be oversimplified. There are people on both sides suffering from such severe cognitive dissonance that they are no longer capable of considering any narrative that challenges their position, even minimally. These posts aren’t for them. They are for those who are still capable of critical thinking even when it’s uncomfortable. As Putin said, “time will tell, we will see.” Time has now passed. I know what I see, but I’m curious as to what others see.

Behind The Scenes In The Vegas Loop: Inside Elon Musk's The Boring Company Bold Bet On Urban Mobility Hey everyone. Tesla Owners Silicon Valley (Tesla Owners Silicon Valley) here. I recently had the chance to go behind the scenes with Steve Davis, President of The Boring Company, for a deep dive into the Vegas Loop in Las Vegas. This wasn’t a quick photo op. It was a full 47-minute immersion: riding through the LED-lit tunnels in a Tesla, visiting active construction sites with Prufrock boring machines, and hearing directly from Steve about what’s working today, and what’s coming next. I’m posting the full long-form video alongside this recap so you can experience it firsthand. But here’s the readable, “what actually matters” story from the tour. From “Traffic Is Soul-Crushing” To A Working Underground Network The Boring Company was founded in 2016, born of a familiar frustration: gridlocked cities that can’t build fast enough, cheap enough, or with minimal disruption. The premise is simple but ambitious: reinvent tunneling to make it practical infrastructure, not a decade-long mega-project. Las Vegas is where that idea is being tested at real scale. Instead of waiting for buses, shuttles, or rail schedules, the Vegas Loop aims to provide point-to-point trips in Teslas, fast, quiet, and emissions-free, connecting major destinations without the chaos of the Strip above. And after seeing it up close, what stands out most is how operational it already is. This isn’t a render. It’s a functioning system handling real demand, in real conditions, with real riders. What It Feels Like: Fast, Weirdly Fun, And Surprisingly Smooth The “Loop experience” is part transit, part sci-fi. The tunnels are lined with shifting LEDs—purples, greens, yellows—that make the ride feel more like entering a venue than commuting. Trips are short and direct. One example Steve shared: LVCC to Encore in about 85 seconds. But the biggest “wait, that just happened” moment on the tour was Full Self-Driving. FSD Underground (And Onto Surface Streets) We rode in a Model Y running Full Self-Driving (Supervised), which navigated the tunnels smoothly and then transitioned back to surface streets without intervention. Steve’s point wasn’t that autonomy is a cool demo; it’s that autonomy is a force multiplier for throughput, consistency, and future scale. Steve Davis: “Full Self-Driving Supervised is live commercially between LVCC and Encore, watch this: zero interventions as it navigates the tunnels and pops out onto surface streets seamlessly.” Right now, they still operate with safety drivers, but the trajectory is clear: as autonomy matures, the system can move more people with tighter headways and less variability than human-driven operations. The Numbers: “Spiky Demand” Is Where This System Wants To Win Vegas isn’t a steady-demand commuter city. It’s a burst-demand city: conventions, games, concerts, and tourist surges. Steve emphasized that this is exactly where the Loop model shines, because you can scale vehicles dynamically without rebuilding an entire transit line. During CES 2026, the Loop moved 90,000+ passengers, peaking at 6,600+ riders per hour, including 22,000+ trips to/from Resorts World, Encore, and Westgate. That’s on top of 3.5M+ total passengers since 2021. Steve Davis: “We’ve hit over 3 million passengers since 2021, and during CES 2026 alone, we shuttled more than 90,000 people, peaking at 6,600 passengers per hour without a hitch.” And beyond the numbers, there’s a secondary effect people don’t always talk about: for many riders, this is their first time in a Tesla, and it’s an unusually positive first impression. The Airport Connection: A Phased Plan With A Very Clear Endgame Connecting the system to Harry Reid International Airport is the crown jewel, and they’re doing it in phases to deliver value quickly while they work through the harder parts. Phase 1 (Live Now) Limited airport rides are already operating via a mix of tunnels and surface streets from existing stations, including Resorts World, Encore, Westgate, and LVCC. They’re doing roughly 50 test rides per day, and Steve noted 100 of ~130 vehicles are already “airport-ready” with transponders. Phase 2 (Next Couple Months) This is where things get meaningfully faster: a 2.2-mile dual tunnel from Westgate to 4744 Paradise Road, eliminating about two miles of surface traffic and stoplights. New stations are planned at Virgin Hotels, The Boring Company’s apartment complex, the former Gordon Biersch site, and Firefly. Fleet expands to 160 vehicles. Steve Davis: “Phase 2 kicks in soon: a 2.2-mile tunnel to Paradise Road, cutting out those surface miles and stoplights.” Phase 3 Extend to 5032 Palo Verde Road near Terminal 1, further removing surface bottlenecks around Tropicana and University Center. Fleet scales to 250–300 vehicles. Phase 4 (The “Holy Grail”) A direct underground station at the terminals, true curb-to-gate simplicity, fully underground. Steve Davis: “Phase 4 is the holy grail: a direct underground station right at the airport terminals.” The Big Build: 68 Miles, 104 Stations, Privately Funded The long-term vision is expansive: 68 miles of tunnels and 104 stations spanning the Strip, downtown, the stadium, and the airport. Core Strip construction begins this fall, with a 2027 target for that major phase, and further expansion into 2028–2029. Steve emphasized something important here: the funding model. These builds are privately funded, and the cost structure is the entire point: build rapidly and avoid “subway economics.” Steve Davis: “68 miles, 104 stations… all privately funded at about $10M per mile, versus billions for subways.” The Real Workhorses: Prufrock Boring Machines Up Close If the Loop is the user experience, Prufrock is the engine underneath it. Seeing Prufrock at an active dig site is hard to describe unless you’ve stood next to one. It’s enormous, loud, and relentlessly practical. The key advantage is that it changes the setup cost: it can launch from the surface without massive open pits, and it’s designed to move fast, with a long-term target of one mile per week. The machine isn’t just digging; it’s built around an integrated approach to lining, pumping, and maintaining the tunnel environment while staying cost-effective. Challenges They’re Solving In Real Time: Groundwater And Permitting One of the most interesting “myth-busting” moments was hearing Steve talk about tunnel conditions. Despite the desert setting, the tunnels are roughly 30 feet below grade, and in many areas, they’re fully submerged in groundwater, sand, clay, caliche, and water management, all part of the daily reality. Steve Davis: “Tunnels are 30 feet down, fully submerged in groundwater, desert myth busted.” They manage leaks through periodic sealing (foam, maintenance cycles) and now operate with stronger compliance processes for water treatment and disposal. The bigger long-term bottleneck, though, isn’t engineering; it’s approvals. Steve noted they need hundreds of permits (600+), and many can take months. Their push is toward a more streamlined, operator-style approval model, closer to how SpaceX is regulated: certify capability and safety, then execute without rearguing every step. Steve Davis: “Permitting’s the bottleneck… we’re advocating for a SpaceX-style operator license.” Fleet Scaling And The “Robovan” Strategy Right now, the fleet is about 130 Teslas, including Model Ys and Cybertrucks, tuned for tight turns and repeated high-frequency operations. The larger goal is to scale up to 1,200 vehicles as the network grows. And that’s where Robovan (high-occupancy, event-optimized vehicles) becomes strategically important. Steve’s framing was refreshingly clear: cars are more efficient for small groups. Robovans win when you can predict surges, like a Raiders game or a Sphere show, and load high-occupancy vehicles in advance. Steve Davis: “Robovans shine when everyone’s going to the same spot… that’s when you put the high occupancy vehicle in.” What’s Next: Suburbs, Regional Links, And Bigger Swing Ideas After the core network is built, they’re looking at suburban expansions (Henderson, Summerlin) via shorter demo segments first, proving utility for pedestrian and vehicle connectivity. And then Steve hinted at the kind of long-range thinking that gets people excited (and skeptical): longer-distance routes, potentially even Hyperloop concepts like Reno connections, if permitting and economics align. Steve Davis: “Suburbs like Henderson and Summerlin next… long-term? Hyperloop to Reno… private funding makes it doable if permitting catches up.” Final Take: Vegas Is Becoming A Live Testbed For A New Kind Of Transit This tour made one thing very clear: The Boring Company isn’t trying to win the “traditional public transit debate.” They’re trying to change the rules of what’s feasible, building faster, cheaper, and with an experience that people actually want to use. Watching FSD glide through the tunnels, seeing Prufrock tearing through the ground, and hearing the phased plan for the airport and Strip expansion straight from Steve… It’s hard not to feel like Vegas is a real-world preview of what mobility can look like when infrastructure is built like technology. AGI? One day, but not yet. The only AI that works well right now is the one behind the screen [12-17]. But passing the Turing Test [9] behind a screen is easy compared to Real AI for real robots in the real world. No current AI-driven robot could be certified as a plumber [13-17]. Hence, the Turing Test isn't a good measure of intelligence (and neither is IQ). And AGI without mastery of the physical world is no AGI. That’s why I created the TUM CogBotLab for learning robots in 2004 [5], co-founded a company for AI in the physical world in 2014 [6], and had teams at TUM, IDSIA, and now KAUST work towards baby robots [4,10-11,18]. Such soft robots don't just slavishly imitate humans and they don't work by just downloading the web like LLMs/VLMs. No. Instead, they exploit the principles of Artificial Curiosity to improve their neural World Models (two terms I used back in 1990 [1-4]). These robots work with lots of sensors, but only weak actuators, such that they cannot easily harm themselves [18] when they collect useful data by devising and running their own self-invented experiments. Remarkably, since the 1970s, many have made fun of my old goal to build a self-improving AGI smarter than myself and then retire. Recently, however, many have finally started to take this seriously, and now some of them are suddenly TOO optimistic. 🔥#VEVE "Where's Rhys?", "Why Are The Ecomi YouTube Videos Deleted?", and "What's Happening With OMI & OUP?" are 3 major concerns from the community, so we asked David Yu ⭕️ exactly that. 💎A couple takeaways: 👩‍💻 In the past when the team was smaller, Rhys as the community manager focusing on OMI might have been the go-to person for the token & OUP, however, now that they have a team dedicated to OMI & OUP, the implementations and communications will be handled in a more structured manner. Long story short, Rhys's still with the company, but keep in mind he's not the sole person for OMI. Ecomi/Veve will let us know if there's a new community manager. 🎛️ As all teams in VeVe/ECOMI grow (current in the phase of growing 70 to 300 employees, we should appreciate this fact because other NFT platforms are shutting down while VeVe's growing strong), everyone's tied to KPIs and deliverables in a corporate way & anyone can be replaced to make sure the company always have talent and capability to get things done. 🍎 Besides regulatory issues, the company has to respect Apple's restriction on in-app crypto transaction and hence they can't circumvent that and risk being delisted from the App Store. Therefore OMI transactions on the VeVe mobile app (and again, this is just OMI transactions in the mobile app) will have to wait. 🌎 My understanding is: because of that, the team that work on OMI & its utilities will focus more on a/ Non-transactional features for mobile app, for now, because of Apple's policy. I assume this might be staking and points, etc. The web app will obviously get more implementations due to more freedom. I hope Apple green lights crypto soon because that would certainly help. b/ Utilities for OMI in VeVeVerse. c/ Incorporating OUP to complement MCP to create an integrated loyalty program. My take: I really appreciate David's sharing these important notes on OMI and OUP and how the teams are growing, but we need to get more OMI updates more often. Example: VeVe ships new in-app updates, big or small, every 2 weeks, meanwhile we haven't heard anything from the Ecomi side for months. Also, as VeVe gets a dedicated blog site, Ecomi loses content (the YouTube videos). I'd be happy with just something on a monthly basis. We have seen a significant change in VeVe updates after Mitch and Nestor started, they also communicate frequently with the community, we need the new Mitch(s) and Nestor(s) on the OMI side, shipping utilities and talking about them. It was good to know there is a team working on utilities instead of just one or 2 people and a plan, and challenges including regulations and Apple's restriction on crypto transaction, but many of the VeVe fam (myself included) learned about OMI first and used that as a gateway for VeVe, so having some utilities for OMI would certainly help bringing awareness to VeVe and the whole ecosystem.
