Turkish President Erdogan: Once the separatist terrorist threat in northern Syria is completely eliminated, not only the Syrian people but our entire region will breathe a sigh of relief. As Syria transforms into an island of prosperity and stability in the region, we will all benefit from this. The winners of a united and secure Syria will be Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, Alawites, Druze, Christians, and all other Syrian citizens.

A major power shift is unfolding in northeastern Syria. Syrian forces have moved in on the al-Hol camp and surrounding areas after Kurdish units withdrew, taking control of key routes and sites that hold thousands of ISIS fighters and families. Control over the prisons and camps that contain some of the world’s most dangerous extremists is now changing hands, with massive implications for regional and global security.

For years, our Kurdish forces, known as the “Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF),” defended the Syrian people and Syria But we did not know that those we defended would betray our people and commit massacres against them We paid a high price and suffered, but we learned Now, these forces have turned to defend only the Kurdish people and the land of Kurdistan

This cemetery belongs to the Kurdish fighters who gave their lives liberating Raqqa — the capital of ISIS. These are the same heroes the world celebrated for destroying ISIS. Today their graves are being desecrated by Syrian forces backed by the new authorities — the very groups many call ISIS rebranded and normalized by the West. The US and Europe once armed and praised the Kurds for defeating ISIS. Today they support and fund the people responsible for this horrible work. Kurds did not fight for anyone — they simply shared a mutual enemy with the West: ISIS. Now the West watches in silence as the memory of those fighters is wiped out. This is what betrayal looks like. Kurds will remember this. #Raqqa #Rojava #Kurdistan #Kurds #Syria #ISIS
