Our National Pastime is in decline and it’s painfully obvious to those who know. By my estimation there are 50-100 MLB players who don’t belong in the Show. It might actually be more honestly. There were 3 MLB games yesterday in which the winning team scored 15 runs. Two of those games were 15-2 and the 3rd was 15-3. These games were so uncompetitive that 3 position players pitched or should I say lobbed pitches to the opposing hitters just to try and get the game over. When Rob Manfred and the Owners cut the Draft to 20 rounds and eliminated over 40 Minor League Baseball teams he depleted the talent pool. Yesterday I checked out the stats and there were 28 hitters hitting under (.200) and those are only the qualifying players. There were only 22 players batting over (.300) which after only a month is extremely low considering averages tend to start high and decrease over the season. Deni was incredible last night, almost an A+ game in my opinion given the circumstances and the matchup But this one pass from him was the single worst decision any Blazer made all night The Spurs had missed 8 of their first 9 shots to start the 3rd quarter, ice cold Portland, meanwhile, had turned it over on 2 of their previous 3 possessions, not exactly in a rhythm themselves But we were chipping away at the lead and had multiple opportunities to take it; Deni just simply cannot throw the ball away like this in any moment, let alone the one that he did This immediately turns into a wide-open, run-sparking three-pointer for Champagnie. Caitlin Clark is Drew Bledsoe, and Tom Brady is already in the building! I love how Stephanie White is taking her time with Raven Johnson, and fully developing her offensive confidence prior to handing over the reigns. Raven will never be a 25ppg scorer. She will never take 32 shots or 18 3-pointers in a game. However, she shot 40% from 3-PT range in college last year. She will penetrate and dish. She will knock down open 3PT shots. She will drastically reduce the # of turnovers from the Fever, and you will NEVER see opposing teams TARGETING and DESTROYING her on defense. 🏀🏀 My guess is that after 5-10 more games, Caitlin will shut it down for the year again, and the Fever will be a better team without her.

Eagles/Cardinals 2008 NFC Championship, The End of an Era: Thanks to the 44-6 beatdown vs Dallas, the ’08 Eagles made their most unlikely title game and the matchup looked favorable. A 9–7 Cardinals team the Eagles had blown out by 28 just weeks earlier. But this wasn’t the same game. Larry Fitzgerald was in the middle of a playoff run for the ages, torching the Eagles for 3 TDs as Arizona stormed to a 24–6 halftime lead. Still, these Eagles refused to fold. McNabb threw 3 second half TDs, giving Philly the lead in the 4th quarter, but the defense couldn’t get a stop with the game on the line. Down late, the Eagles had one final chance. A 4th down throw to Kevin Curtis could have extended the comeback but there was no flag on a 50/50 PI and the game was over, Cardinals win 32–25. Adding to the weight of it all: longtime DC Jim Johnson would sadly pass away that offseason, and Brian Dawkins would leave in free agency. The final game for two Eagles icons, and the closing chapter of a great era in Eagles history.
