Absolute mastery. 🎹✨ Playing one piano at a highest level is already a lifetime achievement, but commanding two simultaneously while maintaining that flawless rhythm and grace is pure genius. Hazel Scott was truly lightyears ahead of her time!

While shooting Columbia's The Heat's On in 1943, Hazel Scott walked off the set for three days until the extras' oiled Hoover aprons were replaced with floral dresses.

Her technique is incredible but oddly, the two keyboards at once thing isn't particularly interesting. Rock musicians have been doing it for 50 years, typically to play a synth solo over a piano or get 2 distinct synth sounds going at once. What I like is how she gets to play in the low half of the keyboard simultaneously near the end, and that simply can't be done on a single keyboard.
