I had raised this issue three weeks ago and now see how people are suffering because of the poor performance of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, which unfortunately has become almost dysfunctional! The people at the helm are not taking their responsibilities seriously despite being paid for this work! Unless people are held accountable and action is initiated against those not doing their job properly, nothing will change! Will be leaving for Baku tomorrow Insha’Allah on a three day state visit to participate in the World Urban Forum. It will be a singular honour to present Punjab’s flagship sustainable urban affordable housing initiative, “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar,” at the Pakistan Pavilion at the World Urban Forum in Baku. Alhamdulillah, out of 160,000 houses under construction, 100,000 have been completed with families moving into their own new homes in less than a year Alhamdulillah. The Pakistan Pavilion will showcase a case study, Punjab’s people centric model of inclusive urban development, affordable housing, and sustainable communities for low-income families. During the visit, I will also have the honour of meeting the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and partnerships in urban development, climate resilience, tourism, and investment. Glimpses from the making of the Pakistan Pavilion of “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” at the Baku Olympic Pavilion.

This morning, TVs throughout the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development headquarters in Washington, D.C., showed an AI-generated video of Trump sucking on the DOGE leader’s toes, with the message, “LONG LIVE THE REAL KING.” The video wasn’t up for long. Journalist Marisa Kabas reports that building staffers couldn’t figure out how to stop the disgusting HUD broadcast, so they just unplugged all the TVs in the building. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the hack, but presumably, the HUD building is chock-full of furious employees right now.

The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TSIIC) recently announced the auction of 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, Serilingampally Mandal, Hyderabad. The land incorporates the Mushroom Rock area in the University of Hyderabad, near its East Campus. The auction was scheduled between March 8 and 15. On Thursday, the University of Hyderabad Students’ Union 2024-25 gave a call for a protest at the site of the ongoing bulldozing. Hundreds of students, faculty members, university staff and environmental activists gathered at the East Campus and marched to save the land. Kancha Gachibowli is one of the few remaining urban forests in Hyderabad. This habitat hosts a wide range of birds and animals.
