Parliament is in session, but where is PM Narendra Modi? He should be in the House, answering to the people about his stand on US tariffs. Has he reduced tariffs on American products? By how much? In order to be able to debate with Lee Anderson MP on the topic of Net Zero - or any topic really - he would have to do some basic research. How can I debate this with someone that thinks the energy crisis was caused by renewable energy? That’s so far from reality. As to where to have this debate - Anderson does not have a constituency, he’s a cuckoo in a Tory seat, running scared of a by election. He might as well come to Stroud to debate with me - that’s as much my constituency as Ashfield is his - I’m not elected either…:)

I'm intrigued by Ant Middleton standing to be Mayor of London. As I explain below, one of the things that has led to so much of the crime and disorder in our towns and cities is the disappearance of the Non-Commissioned Officer in public life. When I was growing up, almost every town had a police Sergeant, usually a man who had been a Sergeant Major in the armed forces. They were tough and knew how to command respect, but not domineering. They were the kinds of men that Rudyard Kipling respected and wrote so much about. This figure has been shouldered out of our society. Bringing it back would do much to restore a sense of order and civility to our streets.
