My cat does this when he doesn’t like the food I give

It is a little complicated but strays don’t know when their next food is going to coming from, my strays always try to bury their wet food or dry food or snacks. They will even do it on that porch on cement and yes, they do bury their poop so it could smell like poop too. Cats are complicated and wonderful.

My cat is a burier too. They do this because it’s an ancient instinct built in. Cats bury their poop/food to hide the smell from larger predators. This cat senses the coffee has a strong smell and is trying to bury it to protect their human. Cats are incredibly smart creatures!

It's not that it smells bad, it's that it A: has a strong scent and they are protecting from predators by covering it, or B: it's too much "food" and it is burying it for later so it doesn't get snatched up by other hungry animals
