Bakugo literally never had a reason to be as much of an asshole as he was. I'm not sure what the author had in mind, but he just comes across as a bitch for hating on Deku so much despite there not being any actual beef. His entire character barely changes throughtou the whole show. It would have been generic, but making him into a Sasuke would have at least given him something interesting.
