📣🚨 FSU MEMBER TESTIMONIAL: Graham Linehan “I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without the Free Speech Union.” In this week’s instalment of the FSU Member Testimonial series, Graham Linehan speaks about the support he has received from the Free Speech Union. For more than 10 years, Graham has faced abuse and harassment from militant trans activists who have tried to silence him because he does not share their worldview. Last September, Graham was arrested at Heathrow Airport by five armed police officers over three gender-critical posts he had made on X months earlier. He was detained, held in a cell, and later taken to hospital when his blood pressure rose dangerously high. The Crown Prosecution Service announced that it would take no further action against Mr Linehan. On the same day, the Metropolitan Police said it would no longer investigate non-crime hate incidents (NCHIs). After a five-month investigation, the Met has now issued an unreserved apology to Graham. While this is welcome, he should never have been arrested in the first place. The Metropolitan Police has dropped their baseless investigation into Graham Linehan. This is a huge victory for Graham and for free speech. While we welcome the news, the police must learn their lesson. This is why The Free Speech Union is helping Graham Linehan sue the Met for wrongful arrest and false imprisonment. Following the announcement that Graham would face no further action, the Met also announced they no longer would investigate NCHIs. This is a direct result of the tireless campaign led by the Free Speech Union to scrap NCHIs. While this is a step in the right direction, the fight is not over. All other UK police forces must follow suit. NCHIs are a waste of police time and taxpayer money. It is now time for ALL police officers to focus on our streets, not our tweets. District Judge Briony Clarke ruled that his comments were “insulting” and even “unnecessary”, but they did not meet the legal threshold for harassment. This is a significant victory for Graham Linehan — and for free speech. However, he was convicted of criminal damage for knocking a militant trans activist’s phone out of his hand after it was thrust in his face. The Free Speech Union will be supporting Graham’s appeal of this conviction. We are concerned about the precedent this judgment sets. It signals to far-left activists that they can continue their aggressive attempts to silence voices they disagree with. We stand with Graham.
