The facility had been under siege for 84 days and was largely destroyed in the raid, including sections set on fire, with patients and staff killed. He has since been held in Israeli prison without formal charges for more than a year. His lawyer and family say Dr. Safiya has been tortured and subjected to serious medical neglect.
