Not his gate. Not his land. A gate that is usually open, but sometimes closed on an established, government controlled road/pathway. The cycle path links the city center with the eastern suburbs.

For people hating on the gate…if that was a person crossing the path the cyclists wouldn’t see them or be able to stop either.

A lot of those bicyclists don't seem to be seeing the fence until they hit it. A few high visibility signs on the gate would hopefully get them to brake earlier.

Cyclists seem to be completely unaware of everything, how much they're hated, how fucked their wife is by other men while they're out cycling, physical objects that are obviously in the way, etc.

To busy riding as fast as they can and not looking where they are going to realize it's even there.

If you can't see a large metal pole extending across the road right in front of you, you're either not paying attention or are too stupid to be riding a bike that fast. The gate is clearly there to prevent cars from going on it.

Wasn't his gate. The South Yorkshire local council put that up. His property stopped at the fence. Sad that this post makes HIM look like the asshole. If I'm correct, from the article, he took that video to the council to show them how dangerous it was to make a change.

No. He put up that gate because he was tired of people driving fast. He didn't bother putting up a sign of warning and painted the gate in similar colors to make it hard to see. It's like he's begging for a lawsuit.

If I had to guess what's happening here, it seems to be a nightmare of perfect circumstances: there's an incline shortly before the gate (looks like the concrete region near the pole) that is likely hiding the gate from the bikers' POV until after they traverse it. It either looks flush to ground to them or completely hidden before they go over that hill. They are also descending what looks to be a fairly steep incline from the initial road, which explains their speed. I'm just assuming the small hill before the gate is occluding their view of it - or they really are just all dumb asf. Lol

Funny though it is (and I am a cyclist) it is not his gate. It was on a path in Sheffield. The gate is no longer there and the land is covered in houses. You're welcome.

Maybe people can score from 1 to 10 on which one showed the best crash boom slam. I pick number 1 for a 10. That one did the flip slam. #2 showed leg air dance moves and the last did the slam back move. Pay attention what's up ahead or you will be the entertainment

Why doesn't this asshole build a bigger gate, visible to everyone and recognizable from afar? ...or put up a warning sign saying 'Private property with closed gate'... ...or extend the fence so they can't even use the exit in the first place?

"His gate"? That looks like a paved bike trail. Certainly the bikers see it that way. Are you certain the gate is his? Why would he own a private paved trail outside his fenced yard that's connected to a public bike trail? I don't think that "his" gate & you should correct.
