“A 50 off 55 when no one else has done it that easy.” Sachin Tendulkar’s final Test appearance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground came during the Boxing Day Test of 2011. On Day 2, a crowd of over 55,000 rose to give him a thunderous standing ovation. The Channel Nine commentators were visibly in awe, both of the reception he received and of his sublime stroke play. Tendulkar scored 73 in the first innings and 32 in the second, finishing as India’s highest scorer in both innings.

BREAKING: Memphis lands a commitment from Briacrest HS 2026 4⭐️ wing/F Fred Smith Jr. Fred joins fellow 4⭐️ Cello Jackson as the two Memphis commits in the 2026 class. Smith Jr. is an interesting scout. Has good handle + ball skills at his size, but lacks lateral quickness and outside shooting. Is limited size-wise in the paint but is a physical scorer at the rim. It’ll be interesting to see what position he plays and how his game translates in college. I see him more as an undersized 4 in college.

The “Kambli was more talented than Tendulkar” debate is nothing new. From Bradman to Kambli, Lara to Vaibhav, Ponting to Kallis, Tendulkar has been compared with almost everyone. Sachin Tendulkar was being compared even before he became a household name - that’s how extraordinary his rise was. • At 15, likened to Sunil Gavaskar by the Mumbai circuit • In 1992, Imran Khan compared him with Inzamam-ul-Haq (by this time Tendulkar scored test hundreds in England and Australia). • At 88, Don Bradman saw his own reflection in Tendulkar (by this time Tendulkar had 10 Test Hundreds). • Strokeplay drew parallels with Viv Richards (by this time Tendulkar started opening for India in ODIs). • ODI batting comparisons with Saeed Anwar and Mark Waugh, in the race to surpass Desmond Haynes’ ODI hundreds record. • Then came comparisons with Brian Lara • Followed by Ricky Ponting • And alongside Jacques Kallis After retirement, the benchmark shifted to Virat Kohli, Alastair Cook, Steve Smith & Joe Root And now, even teenagers like Vaibhav Suryavanshi are being measured against him. That’s the thing - Tendulkar wasn’t just compared across generations. He became the standard every generation gets compared to.

At the Masters golfing legend, and former pupil of our mentor Leslie King, Gary player said that the ball is now flying too far and needs to lose around 50 yards. He stressed that this was only in the professional game and that the amateurs should continue making the game as playable as possible by continuing with current equipment. A few weeks ago we ran a little test using a 1.62 Dunlop 65 from 50 years ago against a modern 1.68 ball. Today Phil tries out a McGregor Tourney Driver from the early 70s, considered the gold standard of the time. Phil is a former Tour player, not so young anymore but still averages a drive of 280 yards…

When Australia ended West Indies’ 15-year dominance. #OnThisDay in 1995, Australia became the first side in 15 years to defeat West Indies in a Test series - a moment that marked a seismic shift in world cricket. The Australian players celebrated the historic triumph late into the night, but for Steve Waugh, the emotion ran deeper. He famously went to sleep still wearing his whites, socks, and baggy green cap - a reflection of just how much the victory meant to him. That win in Jamaica wasn’t just a series result; it signalled the beginning of a new era for Australian cricket. It was also a defining chapter in Waugh’s career, as his resilience and match-winning 200 became one of the cornerstones of his enduring legacy.

John Lynch said Kyle Shanahan is "doing good" in his recovery from a car accident, but is experiencing some "lingering effects" from his concussion. He's being treated as a player in that he'll be going through the typical player's concussion protocol in his return to team activities. Lynch said he does expect Shanahan to be back to his full head coaching duties "well before" Week 1 in Australia.

LeBron James says Kevin Durant is the most complete scorer in NBA history “He hasn't shot under 50% since 2012. And in a league that doesn't talk about efficiency enough… because I'm one of those efficiency guys, I hate going out there just chucking up shots or looking at the box score and I was maybe 8 for 23, or 9 for 25, or 6 for 18. You're going to have those nights for sure” “For the majority of the season, being efficient is something I've always prided myself on. And this guy, when it comes to three-level scorer: three-pointers, mid-range, below the Gary Payton area, below the Malone area, and finishing, we haven't had a scorer as equipped as KD in our league, ever”

I am Irish now, he proclaims. A man originally from Syria, who says he came to Ireland from Jordan, claims he has been living in Ireland for nine months. He says he arrived with his wife and three daughters after asking the UN where they should go. According to him, countries such as Sweden and Germany were suggested, but friends in Ireland told him that "everything is very good" here. He also says his family has been provided with housing and that he receives €500 per week. When asked how many came with him, he claims that nine families travelled together, along with around 30 more families from Jordan. He adds that he is Muslim and that Ireland is a safe place for him. Jordan, however, is itself a Muslim-majority country where Islam is the official state religion, with around 92–97% of the population being Sunni Muslim. The policy question is this: if Jordan is regarded as a safe country, why are people travelling over 4,300 km to seek protection in Ireland, and on what legal basis are they being permitted to remain? Jim O'Callaghan TD, can you explain how cases such as this are assessed and why applicants arriving from a country generally considered safe are allowed to stay while their claims are processed?

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is trending because GRV is staying in ADC, to battle Doherty in primaries, as Labour Party set of 2023 disbands. The Lagos guber aspirant decided against following Peter Obi to NDC. As he remains resolute in conviction despite billions offered to compromise. From KOWA to PDP to LP to ADC; GRV believes he’s building a progressive structure which he will fight for, and the place to do that is in the ADC. In 2023, Labour Party fielded candidates for 24 states, but won only 1 (Abia). However among Alex Otti, GRV, Chijioke Edoga, Ken Pala, Olumide Apata (2024), etc, GRV recorded the highest votes scored by an LP candidate 312,329 in Lagos, even higher than Alex Otti victorious 175,467. He was also the second highest score recorded by an opposition in Lagos since Jimi Agbaje (PDP) 659,788 vs. Ambode in 2015. With Datti Baba-Ahmed Obi’s VP in PRP, GRV in ADC, Otti in LP, Edeoga in APC, Peter Obi in NDC, many see a broken structure. Some Obidients have withdrawn their support for GRV, with belief he’s made a wrong decision that may cost him the ticket. Yet, the decision to ditch Obi, has also won him some new supporters. Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque gives Brock Lesnar his flowers — “Brock does not get the credit for being as good as he is. Because he’s not your prototypical pro wrestler, he’s not looked at when you talk about the greats technically in the business… I would put him up there as one of the best of all-time. Psychology-wise, in-ring performance-wise, he did it in a unique way that was all Brock Lesnar — in a believable way. I watched him from the day he walked in the door, all the way til now, and it’s been incredible. He is an incredible, incredible, incredible performer. When he wants to do what he did over the last few months with somebody like Oba that’s a bold statement and a big one.” — via #SummerSlam Post-Show

Eva Vlaardingerbroek, a Dutch political commentator and lawyer, was banned from entry into the UK because her "presence in the UK is not considered to be conducive to the public good." But Jihad al-Shamie is? (whose name literally translates to "Jihad from Syria"), which he took literally as he drove a car into a synagogue in Manchester, got out and stabbed people while pledging his allegiance to ISIS. Eva is dangerous, but the government will fight for more Abedi families to flood the country, who used taxpayer dollars to build a bomb that killed 22 people at the Manchester Arena. Eva is not welcome, but men who mass rape women and children are? When the truth becomes "dangerous," the country is in free fall.
