I don’t think so. Going head on against the west was a poor decision from a geopolitical standpoint. While his reasoning was sound, he should have known he did not have to the power to make such a move, which inevitably lead to his domestic failure.

For what it's worth despite his failure he talk the talk and walk the walk. Never let to be shut into silence, stood by his belief and they hated him so much for that. He does not play nice, he is his genuine self good or bad. Many things to learn and unlearn from his rulership.
