The Tesla Model 3/Y produced in the 2017-2024 timeframe all have just an air conditioning vent in the back. But it would be great to turn it into a smart screen that can watch movies, play games and other controls.

I know this seems weird, but this is actually how trains work too. They use giant diesel generators, to power electric motors that drive the trains. A lot of electric semi-trucks also use diesel generators to charge the batteries that power their electric motors. Why do this? It would seem inefficient, but because of how electric power can be applied compared to power generated by internal combustion engines, there are situations where this is more efficient.

Absolutely. People do not think for a second where the power comes from when you turn on your lights.
