I’m going through OCIA currently. And the one thing that is emphasized constantly and stands out is building a relationship with Jesus Christ, historical research, and worship God and Only God. Catholics do not worship Saints, the mother Mary, angels, or other false gods.

When I was in my 20s my good friend and coworkers mom was dying kinda slowly. She was Catholic. She explained that this can help you to be honest in prayer. To pray to a saint to speak for you can prevent feeling unworthy or selfish or whatever. Done in reverence to God.
