As someone that worked for a company that designed, tested and manufactured vests and plates for police and military use, this is a bad idea. All vests and plates are NOT equal and some are better than others. Yes, they all have to pass certain tests to be approved, but one vest may stop it and you are fine. Another may stop it but you have a huge bruise and broken ribs. But they both pass, so quality does matter with plates and vests. FYI.... No vest or plate will stop Depleted Uranium rounds unless something has changed. Also, Kevlar is not the only fabric used and they are bullet resistant not bullet proof.
