Some truths are uncomfortable…. The video below is that of a Hausa man living in New York (I’ve not verified this or know his name). He is talking about solving the ‘Almajiri’ problem in northern Nigeria. I don’t agree with everything the he is saying (or if what he is proposing will solve the problem) but if we all agreed that what he is trying to solve is a uniquely #Arewa problem, can we propose alternatives to its solution? Definitely it is not tenable to have millions of kids outside formal education and growing up into adults that are outside the formal economy. Are we ready to recognise that irresponsible parenting and societal neglect are the root cause of the ‘almajiranci’ scourge? If yes, are we ready to hold the parents of these kids accountable? Or agree on how we go about holding them accountable? Are we ready as a society to confront and eliminate or reform this negative phenomenon? As of now, this is not on any northern politician’s agenda. None of our so called political elites is ready to own this issue or even to take a deeper look at ways to confront it. Whatever they are doing on this for now is mere tokenism. Do the solution does not lie with them for now. But, as a society, confront this we must. Even if our political leaders are failing to do anything about it. Your thoughts please.

Or agree on how we go about holding them accountable? Are we ready as a society to confront and eliminate or reform this negative phenomenon? As of now, this is not on any northern politician’s agenda. None of our so called political elites is ready to own this issue or even to take a deeper look at ways to confront it. Whatever they are doing on this for now is mere tokenism. Do the solution does not lie with them for now. But, as a society, confront this we must. If flat earthers are so stupid and the idea of living on a flat earth is so absurd and archaic, why did CNN think it necessary to do a hit piece on #flatearth, calling them “NAZIS” and “FRINGE OF THE FRINGE” cult members? And why does YouTube put that video at the top of a flat earth search? It’s a pretty safe bet that if CNN is using that kind of language to describe individuals who simply believe that we live on a flat, motionless plane, then there is definitely truth in the message that the “fringe of the fringe” are sharing with people. They are nothing but clowns. 🤡
