In Curitiba, Brazil there are parking lots in and around the city center as it is a targeted areas. Better pay than leave the vehicle in the street. The street in the central area that have Blue Zone, which you pay per hour, park near a commercial door of a business. Police once in a while pubish in the local newspaper what precautions one should take to avoid getting your car robbed.
