This has aged like a fine wine. @SteveBakerFRSA has been absolutely vindicated in 22 months. The only thing he got wrong was that instead of austerity Reeves has chosen to set us on the road to bankruptcy instead.

Can't stand that sweaty lumpen faced Balls. Him losing his seat when he thought he was going to be Chancellor was hilarious.

Agree or disagree with his political outlook, but Steve Baker was one of the few genuinely well intentioned and sensible politicians

Didn't the Tories inherit a national debt of £850bn and leave with a national debt of £3tn? Tories did austerity for the plebs, yet was payday for the rich. Austerity didn't happen. Media payed along. The national debt is designed to trap Reeves. Bond market = bondage market.

Spot on. And the two smug tw8ts sitting there grinning through it all sums up everything wrong with politicians. Don't give a hoot how it affects others. Just walk away with massive pensions and miraculously far greater wealth. They disgust me.

@AllisonPearson Steve Baker was wasted in the Tories. But that’s the establishment system for you. Those who actually know how to fix things, are locked out of the inner circle.

He was so right to call these terrible example of ex ministers out and he was spot on about the issues.

@SteveBakerFRSA was a massive loss to politics. Clearly spot on at the time when endless pundits were beating on about "grownups in charge" and the "little haven of stability". And proven only more right by the day.

Ed was a journalist prior to politics, Osborn was turned down for a hob at the Times & ended up folding towels in Selfridges. We have been led by smart Alec halfwits.

Spot on about Blair/Brown credit bubble, ridiculous house prices and Lisbon Treaty sellout - Brown arriving in the night to sign. Baker was one of the decent, knowledgeable MPs. Most would have known Labour would be a disastrous Government. A stonking majority but no enthusiasm.

Seems like a principled bloke, not that I agree with him. But seems genuine, the less said about olukemi and her Tory yardie boys the better.
