I've started a nonprofit, GuardRailNow, and I need your help. Our approach is unique: I do not come from tech. I cannot write code. I do not live in SF. I am not an EA. I am not a rationalist. I have never been to Silicon Valley. I'm a dad in Baltimore talking about AI extinction risk to other people like me. AI Safety loves selling Bibles outside churches, preaching to the choir. It's easy to talk to people who are like you. It's much harder to talk with people who are very different than you. So why would AI safety people, who are from/in the SF bubble, who use EA/rationalist speech patterns and thought, think they are in any way the right people to bring the message to everyone else?? They are not. If AI Safety wants to get regular people on their side here's a hint: get out of the way. You are the problem. You do not act or talk or think in ways that connect with everyone else. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. But our lives are on the line. Get over it and pass the ball to people like me.

The challenge you get in 2025 is that many women have only achieved things because of their looks and not because they are skilled. They go through life thinking that they are talented when really they are just women. This is especially prevalent in media - I have managed both male and female YouTube channels and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that men have to do way more to get half the followers women get! The lack of humility from commentators that have the easiest jobs in the world amazes me!

Old software engineering patterns are coming back because of coding agents. Dax Raad(dax), co-founder of AI coding agent OpenCode, on why DDD is becoming more relevant and less painful: “I think it's the same problem as always, which is how do you make code bases that are easy to work in, scalable, that can flex to new requirements. A lot of the old patterns for me are coming back. We've always been a big domain-driven design company. We did it in a very light way. We're now doing it in a much heavier way because we find that these, kind of boring, enterprisey patterns end up being pretty useful because you have a bunch of idiots on your team now. Coding agents are a bunch of idiots. They are going to work 24/7 and they're going to ship a lot of stuff so you need way more guardrails than you used to. What's nice is some of these old patterns we hated because they were very verbose, they produced reliable code that was modular and safe but they were very verbose and annoying to type out… you're not typing it out anymore. Now you can get the benefits of these patterns without the downsides."

Do you ever get imposter syndrome? Yunjin : Guys, imposter syndrome is a real thing and it's really hard But, um, I think if you have imposter syndrome it's not... well, nothing in life nothing in this world is 100% good, 100% bad but, I think with imposter syndrome there's more good than there is bad That's kind of how I try to like stabilize myself whenever I feel like I'm having imposter syndrome and that's wrong of me I try to remind myself that "Oh it's better than having like a huge ego Because if you are doubting yourself, it's good to a point It gets to a point, you know? Downstream: the PR merge queue, reviewing and merging all of the new code into production. Anthropic is where other product teams will be in a year or two, so it's important we pay attention. "I would expect that a year from now, the way that we are conceiving of building and shipping software changes a lot. Because it's gonna be very painful to do it the current way."
