Just 24 hours before the clash on April 29, 2018 a video of Sameer Tiger went viral on social media; in it, he was seen torturing a local informant and issuing a direct challenge to Major Rohit Shukla. The operation began on April 30, 2018; the very next day after the challenge, the Indian Army received concrete intelligence that Sameer Tiger and his associates were hiding in Drabgam village, Pulwama district, Jammu & Kashmir. A joint team comprising the Indian Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles (44 RR), the Jammu & Kashmir Police, and the CRPF immediately cordoned off the area; Major Rohit Shukla himself led the entire operation. Captain Rakesh TR of the 9th Battalion, Parachute Regiment, the man who saved Modi ji from a terrorist attack in Jammu on April 24, 2022. As the Alert Troop Commander of 9 PARA (Special Forces), Captain Rakesh was mobilized after receiving intelligence inputs about a likely terrorist presence in the Jammu district ahead of the PM's visit. While en route, he received input of an attack on a security forces convoy. Upon reaching the contact site in a densely populated area, he used a quadcopter to quickly spot the terrorists and set up a close cordon. When the terrorists started firing indiscriminately to break the cordon and move toward civilian areas, Captain Rakesh engaged them, pinning one down with heavy fire. What an example this evening as we marked the 55th Anniversary of the murder of Captain David Stewardson, aged 29 of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps by terrorists on the 9th September 1971 Captain Stewardson was a bomb disposal team member and was killed by an IRA terrorist bomb, he was attempting to defuse the bomb when it exploded outside Castlerobin Orange hall. Capt Stewardson had been in Northern Ireland for only 10 days. As Capt. Stewardson tried to cut into the package, the bomb exploded. This type of bomb was a new development and was christened by the bomb disposal teams as a "Castlerobin". Capt Stewardson wasn’t the only bomb disposal solider killed - there were 23 during Operation Banner, all killed trying to protect others. We should always remember their sacrifice, and never allow it to be besmirched.

Irfan Ramzan Sheikh fought what was hiding in it. The Night Shopian Will Never Forget On the dark night of October 16, 2017, death knocked on the Sheikh family’s door. Three heavily armed terrorists arrived with one goal: to assassinate Irfan’s father, a political activist. ​When the door opened, the gunmen lunged. ​Usually when a child sees a weapon, they freeze or run. In the chaos, his father rushed out and was tragically hit by bullets. But Irfan didn’t stop. He fought with such ferocity,shoving, tackling, and refusing to let go,that the terrorists panicked. In the struggle, they accidentally shot one of their own associates. Terrified by the resistance of a single unarmed boy, the remaining terrorists did the unthinkable: They ran away. In a fierce close-quarters encounter, he and his team eliminated the terrorists despite overwhelming odds, displaying extraordinary courage and unwavering devotion to duty. He was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal for his exceptional gallantry.
