Although some people would think this is nice, keep in the back of your mind that they know they will be away from family, they will not eat hot meals, and they might not come home. Fear shadows any smiles you may see. Try eating this with butterflies in your stomach.

It is and they are in a DFAC, which means they’re overseas somewhere not stateside. It was also the 250th army birthday, hence the parade. That’s more likely the reason for the steak and lobster. Most holidays have this meal.
