This is just EM wave diffraction by a single slit, followed by diffuse scattering. Heisenberg isn't involved. Light doesn't travel in packets (photons), it travels as a wave. It interacts with matter as photons - it departs and arrives as energy packets.

So the photons are doing that in order to obey a maths rule? I guess what I am saying is why does this happen?

Could a simple wave diffraction (bending of light by a narrow opening) not explain this phenomenon? When the slit is wider, not much diffraction. But when the slit becomes small, diffraction kicks in? I am sure I am wrong here. But would appreciate if someone explains it out.

This seems like a really obtuse effort to explain away simple optics. Looks like refraction — As the light passes through the narrow (and optically imperfect) gap, its direction is changed through interactions with the edges. But let’s use really complicated (and hard to physically verify) mathematical formulas to declare that reality isn’t what it appears to be.

Is HUP a useful analogy for the effectiveness of learning? If the light (photons) represents new knowledge and the gap represents prior learning schema, if the gap becomes too narrow (lack of or weak prior knowledge), new knowledge is widely scattered and doesn't stick. @olicav
